Well, at least he didn't respond via Tom Tomorrow's Twitter account this time.

Kaius wrote:How can one read that and think his statements are meaningless or thoughtless? I realize many of his sentiments are unoriginal, but they strike a familiar and sensitive nerve nonetheless.
He was drunk and amped up at a show, hopped on his soapbox and let some shit off of his chest, like so many of us have. When he woke up the next morning, in a sober and quiet moment, he felt relief instead of regret. This is a well-articulated message of community and he should do it more often. Or at least use this passion to make better songs.

Between this and the Frozen song - Pearl Jam haven't been this relevant since the mid 90's

This is all just to promote the Ten Club limited edition yarmulkes that are coming out next week.

Ed has over 2 months off so hopefully he channels some of this 'passion' towards his craft.
Or maybe the US leg hasn't been selling well.

The new encore is going to be a WWE style showdown between Ed dressed in Palestinian flags and Stone dressed in Israeli flags while Mike and Boom play dueling solos.

Turns on as in attacks him? Or turns on as in sexually arouses him?

Y'know, I suppose it could be (and probably is) both.

Ed had only two realistic options here. Say fucking nothing and stand by it. Or nail his colours to the mast and name all the countries he meant and both would have gotten him grief but respect to. Instead he chose the worst option. He did a 'here's what I meant to say' and for that he's going to get shit from every direction. And especially from the pro Israel side. They're gonna dance all over him for this. He's basically backed down and now is going to be accused of being a coward as well as an anti Semite and all those other bullshit words those guys like throwing at anyone who disagrees with them. Shouldn't have opened his mouth to reply to it at all.

Was he really getting any heat for this outside of that facebook group? I can't imagine this is a story that transcended the very insulated Pearl Jam universe the way the Frozen song did.

Honestly, I think Ed mouthing pleasant but hollow platitudes is, in most cases (and certainly in this one), marginally less aggravating than hearing him forcefully "nail his colours to the mast".

Vetter and his girlfriend sat in the back of the room listening as we discussed Jewish values and theology. After half an hour they decided they wanted to leave and Eddie Vedder raised his hand and said something very bizarre about the existence of cows. We all sat there the bewildered.

At least the PRAMG means they can afford to alienate some of their fan base by voicing their beliefs. Ed has always said it best in lyrical form. His spoken word is terrible. Bring in a quick angry album.

I remember this. This is a great story.
