Re: Best Decade Tournament - 90s: Drafting begins Sarge roun
The most intriguing theories I've come across though are the ones about him living in a monastery in England.
And then there are all the India sightings that happen ever few years. Almost always in Goa.

There's a controversial theory that involves him getting really fat, moving to Hawaii, mashing his fists into an organ, and getting hired by a very popular American corporate rock band.

I don't think it does. Why would a band just hire some random fat Hawaiian guy to "play" organ with them? That's just silly.

He's hardly the factor that makes or breaks whether or not a Pearl Jam show is going to be good.

What do you think Boom's first choice would be if he were in this tournament?

Yeah, for the many conspiracy theories floating around, has there ever been a rock star who actually did fake his death?
Lament wrote:I don't really have one. I don't believe he killed himself that February though. It's very possible he's died in the time since then.
Maybe it's weird, but for them being my favorite band of all-time for more than half of my life, I just kinda take his disappearance for what it is. He disappeared, and we'll never know what happened from there.

The media definitely played up the "He must have killed himself!" angle in the immediate aftermath. It was less than a year after Kurt died, so it made for good press. A lot of the hallmarks of a suicide were missing though, and pretty much all signs point to him having a plan and a destination in mind when he disappeared. There was no suicide note. He had been taking out money from his bank account in specific increments every day for like two weeks before he left. They found his car two or three weeks later with the battery completely dead...PryTo wrote:Yeah, for the many conspiracy theories floating around, has there ever been a rock star who actually did fake his death?

No. He had alcohol problems, but they were/are notoriously anti-drug.PryTo wrote:Drugs?
I don't think he faked his death because I don't think he tried to make it look like he died. I think he, for lack of a better term, ran away.

Did these guys slump post-destruction of chief songwriter like Nirvana or flourish like Pink Floyd?

Flourish. To be fair though, Richey just wrote lyrics, as did Nicky. James, who wrote all of the music was still there. But yeah, their post-Richey triumphs were a pretty huge deal.DeLima wrote:Did these guys slump post-destruction of chief songwriter like Nirvana or flourish like Pink Floyd?
I don't know if he still is. He had some pretty severe battles with anorexia and alcoholism among other things. But I don't believe he killed himself February 1, 1995. He very well may have died in the time since then though.PryTo wrote:Interesting. So you do think he's still alive, yes?

That would be the biggest thing ever if he was still alive and popped back up at some point. Next time one of you folks is in Goa, keep your eyes out for this dude.
