hey NYC Freak isn't too bad. My wife walked in the room and the kitchen momentarily became a dance floor.

Well, yeah. She dislikes almost anything that resembles what she would label "your music". Whatever that means. She's just being a silly goose.

Joseph Arthur is better on his own but 25 bucks plus a few beers isn't a big hit. Just do it.

got a couple listens in the car yesterday and this morning. i'll spoiler my brief thoughts just in case people don't want to read before listening themselves
Spoiler: show
it's only two listens, and not super intently either, but this one just seems less fun than the first record. if i remember, the first album was done in a week or two, and this one had a bit more of a process to it, and i think that shows. musically it is fine and there are some interesting things going on that weren't a part of the first album, but ghost riding does seem to be a more 'serious' record. nyc freaks is probably the album's high point, which is a bit of a let down in some ways- i was definitely hoping a couple more tracks would grab me like that one did. ghost riding is just a slower, more focused record it appears, and in that regard didn't elicit the same excitement from me that the debut did.

After a first listen i have to say i think its a more relaxed and adventurous album than the debut...it has a lot of groove and hooks and they are not trying to rock, which i thought it was the weak part of Arcs.

NYC freaks has some Daft Punk stuff goin on.

one listen, I like it, just as I like Acts. something about their music just sounds genuine and it makes me happy.

Jeff on Ghost Riding:

With a hand from mixer Rick Parker, "Tchad [Blake, co-producer of PJ’s Binaural] could have been our spirit producer for this record," Ament says. "There was a thought early on about getting him involved with it and then it just never happened. ... [It's] probably one of the best headphone records I’ve been involved in¨
