Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
I am not predicting that the song will be like this because of the title, but this is also my fear.BurtReynolds wrote:no song title is inherently bad, but I can only see one of two directions this thing is going:
1: a happy fun pop song, something that PJ is terrible at.

ever since "love boat captain" i refuse to judge pj songs on the title alone. in fact, i think the worse the title, the better the song at this point.

I feel this song should be a up tempo uplifting track with a nice riff. Something similar to GTF. Anything less IMO is a bad sign

Well you guys managed to do it. I already don't want the new album to come out. It's prematurely ruined by ruminations about trepidation and song titles. So that took a day.
Also, I'll never quite understand someone making the active move of coming to a forum to talk about disinterest in the topic of said forum. You ladies doth protest too much.

I have no real problem with the title "Mind Your Manners" but I have a big problem with that use of "doth".

I'm not disinterested in Pearl Jam, I'm disinterested in current Pearl Jam until they give me a reason to be interested again. If that's a problem then you should probably just go to the pit.evenslow wrote:Well you guys managed to do it. I already don't want the new album to come out. Your interest: they have to fight to get it back again.cutuphalfdead wrote:I'm not disinterested in Pearl Jam, I'm disinterested in current Pearl Jam until they give me a reason to be interested again. And here I was thinking this was something the two of us could finally unite around. The knowing twist of a classic saying. Also, calling a group of men "ladies" is particularly winning. You should give me more credit theplatypus. You can do better than this. Come on. I have no problem with the new song title. But I understand all the negativity too. And for the record, Worldwide Suicide is a much worse title.

I don't understand how we have 8 pages of a thread based on a single song title.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
I have zero issue with a lack of excitement regarding this announcement or with any form of trepidation or skepticism from the fan community at large. I just don't think the title is that bad. That's all I'm saying.
I have certain expectations for what I think this song will be (and separately what I want this song to be), but none of that is based on the title.

Expecting new Pearl Jam to be good is like the Dodgers expecting Josh Beckett to be a good pitcher again.

I woke up feeling better about this song title. Though I think just plain "Manners". Would have been my preference
