I hope it isn't unmastered. Soundgarden always master their albums, so at least they have that.

The problem is the live versions of what we've previously heard are light years better than they are here.

So this is basically an album of outtakes right?

A couple of the tracks feel more finished than others, but yeah basically.

The Tonight Show performance (blue faces) is actually two different songs. One of them basically feels like placeholder vocals he's so monotone throughout.

There a few cool moments and I've only listened twice so that's just my first impression. Most of it feels even looser and more free jazzy than TPAB.

He actually does deserve it. He tweeted at the dude from TDE to release them a few days ago and he voila!

This seems like a lot of fanfare for an EP of demos cut from an album.

Has there been a lot of fanfare? Or do you just mean the LeBron James thing? Seems like Kendrick's release method for this was pretty much the opposite of fanfare...

I'm just seeing it all over a social media. Everyone is heaping superlatives on him and talking about how he "dropped a surprise album," which seems like an overstatement.

I agree.

And they are pretty boring too.

It's definitely an overstatement but anytime songs seemingly fall out of the sky from a great artist it's pretty exciting.

It's an overstatement that he dropped a surprise album? Isn't that pretty much just a statement of fact?
