I have too active a conscience to ever attempt this (I honestly am not all that excited about the release), but it would certainly be an amusing stunt to pull off.
I bet skitch would try it for us.

This was officially released years ago - MP3 only. We'll see if this is any better
Oh yeah that's right. It was Washington '95 that leaked.

This sounds as though it's the same mix as the earlier MP3 release but the mastering is noticeably louder.
A chunk of Ed's banter between Jeremy and Dissident has also been removed (at his request, I can only presume).

Or to fit it on double vinyl instead of triple?
I just realised this cost as much as the previous triple vinyl Bellingham show did

Oh, perhaps - I've only heard the digital files, I wasn't sure where the track splits are on the LPs.

It doesn't sound bad, I should add.
It's in line with the sound of the other Vault releases.

That doesn't mean a thing to me. I don't buy any of this stuff. But I kind of figure that the legacy stuff from their better days is material I will probably get into at some unknown rediscovery date.
Has anybody looked at the dynamics yet?

Someone on the official board (I believe it's a different "darthvedder" than
our "darth_vedder") posted this comparison between the original MP3s and the new release:
darthvedder wrote:Wow, I just dug up my old mp3 copy from Basecamp and it sounds so much more dynamic than the FLAC copy I just bought. That truly makes me sad. Once again, I hope the vinyl sounds better.
There's also some dialog cut after Jeremy. The shoe speech "I love me, I love me, I love me...apparently they do love themselves more than Mudhoney" has been cut for the vault release.

I have really liked the sound of the previous Vault releases -- honestly I feel like ever since the band got skewered for the sound on their 2008-10 boots, the sound on their live releases has been pretty consistently great, Vault releases included. The fact that the baseline levels of the sound files is louder isn't a big deal in itself, is it? So long as they didn't have to flatten the dynamics to make it happen....

The above is a measurement of the dynamics, they've certainly been flattened to some extent on this release.

I'm thinking they cut out the chat because there is some digi-noise / tape crackle & pops during Ed's speech (on the MP3 versions). I'm sure everyone would email them and complain about a bad vinyl pressing so they just left it out.

If anybody creates an edit to insert the EV banter into the FLAC, please do let me know. I hate that every Vault show is edited in some way and only listen to the complete versions. The edits have been great and I did the Bellingham one myself and shared it here, but I'm not great at it.

They're saving it for the Xmas single with Redemption Song feat Beyoncé and Nelson.

I haven't sat and listened to it in full yet but I think it should be fine.
It's not a dramatic example of "brickwall" mastering or anything like that, just a bit more pushed than the earlier files.

Thanks again for the Bellingham fixes!
I may get around to this at some point if nobody else does. There's also My Way which was performed by Ed and the Elvis impersonator and released on one of the Christmas singles, I think it should be the third and final encore. It wasn't on the earlier digital release either.

My vinyl copy shipped 2-3 days ago and I still don't have tracking; file this under "big fucking surprise."

Having listened further, the earlier release is more to my tastes sound-wise and I'll be sticking with that in future for most listening purposes despite the lower quality.
YMMV, etc.
