Wonder Woman is a lot like Thor, to me. They both kind of have mythological back stories, they both have supernatural powers, they are basically corny as shit, and actually I'm talking out my ass because I don't give a fuck about either of these characters and have never read anything involving them.
Thor was done really well, but mostly he was able to work because the tone and feel of the Marvel movies left room for what he is. Wonder Woman pretty much needs a full-on rewrite in order to work in the DC movie world, because they haven't left that kind of space.
Why is almost every DC character so lame?
There aren't a lot of circumstances under which picture books about magic people who fight bad guys aren't going to be totally lame. It's a credit to the efforts of the people involved in these things that they've managed to find ways to make them feel even remotely adult or engaging.

When i was a kid, i was a big big DC comics fan...they were through an amazing creativity phase and Marvel was struggling with most of their titles...seems its different now, but the DC universe is a very vast and amazing one.

Likewise. And also, DC was way more represented in other media, while the other Marvel properties were all tied up in various stages of development hell. Only after the Blade movie came out did they gain any real traction.

yeah, the Marvel movies were awful...DC seemed like the company everyone wanted to be a part of.
I dont think they are approaching this Universe thing nicely in the movies, though...Hell, the DC52 is pretty bad too.

well, i do agree with one thing that mcP has said....
DC heroes were always popular in my youth simply because of Superfriends. Marvel had the marvel power hour or whatever it was called but the animation sucked bad as did the actual art of the characters. then batman got his on cartoon(s) and kept him in the mainstream. Superman likewise was always in our minds due to christopher reeves. Marvel was never represented well other than spiderman on the electric company or the 1 hour drama's starring nicholas hammond
add in bill bixbys run as david bruce banner with lou ferrigno as the hulk and reb brown as captain america and that was it. 1 hour shows (aside from the hulk) maybe once every 18 months.
In the past 10-20 years DC has truly tried to copy Marvel since marvel was able to re-organize and get their feet back under them. love him or hate him joe queseda has totally turned that company around.
though all the characters have counterparts with each other in the marvel/dc universe over all you eliminate the top tier characters (Superman/Batman, Wolverine/Ironman) and the average movie goer will be hard pressed to name 5 characters each.
both are moving in the right direction i just feel marvel is doing it the right way where as DC is trying to play catch up

Can't be a fan of Vedder and like women!
It's been a rough adjustment but I made my choice!

Now is when they should do the crossover movies.
Superman v iron man sorta thing.
dont give them any ideas.
If Marvel and Fox couldnt even work out an agreement for Scarlet Witch / Quicksilver to be used in both movies, what makes you think WB and Marvel/Fox could work out any sort of agreement to cross Marvel and DC characters? lol
the only cross over I could see really working on the screen, and studios signing off on would be
Hulk vs Wolverine

Marvel seemed to have more flawed and relatable heroes than DC did in the 60s and 70s, so marvel came to dominate sales. DC characters were too perfect, and they were older and made by different teams. Plus there is all the batshit insane retconning that just made things more confusing. It's less cohesive than marvel's universe.

this is what i dont get. they rectified that (convoluted i might add) with crisis on infinite earths and things seemed to calm down from there. then they bring out the mega events that all lead from one to another, identity crisis (setting up batmans longtime fear of justice league going rouge), infinite crisis (recreating the multiverse) and final crisis (ending Darkseid and Batman).
bring on blackest night followed by brightest day and things seemed to be going in a good direction. at this point i was following JLA, JSA, GL and Bats. then Flashpoint comes along and screws everything up. but they still carried over parts of blackest nights and the guardians going rouge. WTF, either start completely over or dont start over now its back to being confusing beyond belief.

I just had to sit through the first 90 minutes of Man of Steel again. I take back every trace of disappointment I've expressed as news about this project has surfaced. I guess I had just forgotten that it is really just a sequel to a very, very silly movie.

I love batman but my interest in him drops by orders of magnitude if he is interacting with other super heroes.

In general, the X-Men movies are being handled so much better than Man of Steel was. And since all we have to add on top of that movie's backdrop right now is an uncertain choice for Batman and a character that doesn't add anything much to the movie other than that she further establishes it as an ensemble piece, its not hard to see why the upcoming X-Men movies are more exciting to wonder about.
