Showtime was 7:30. We got hung up in traffic, and finally made it to the venue about 8:10. Opener was done, and the bathroom lines were too long for me to gear up. Had to basically bite the bullet and do it in full view of anyone who wanted to watch, as we were front of the inside of the balcony. Chris took the stage a bit before 8:30, I'd say.
So you whipped your D out in public?
Lol. He recorded the concert.

I saw Chris last night. I was more impressed with him solo than with Soundgarden. Vocally impressive. I enjoyed the songs with the cello most of all. River of Deceit and Fell on Black Days were highlights.

He is still doing River of deceit? Nice...Its so cool to see how he embraces the music of his peers in such a respectful way.

Very few dicks. In that setting, they tend to stand out.

Agree, saw him this past Wednesday and his voice about blew the roof off the place. Whether you like the new album or not (it's no EM, but it's definitely got a few great tunes), his live performance is still outstanding. The cello is also a welcome addition to the acoustic gigs. Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart is unquestionably better live and Worried Moon was also a standout. He has the Thank You cover down cold, it moved a few ladies to tears. The SG songs were solid as always, but yeah special mention to Fell On Black Days--I hope someone gets a prof recording of the version w/ cello from this tour. BUTOW was also a nice surprise. Was good to also see a shortage of Carry On and Scream tunes.

Before We Disappear
Can't Change Me
Moonchild
The Times They Are A-Changin' (Dylan)
As Hope & Promise Fade
Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart (WAY better live w/ cello)
Fell on Black Days (HIGHLIGHT)
Thank You
You Know My Name
River of Deceit (you can't help but get excited to hear it, but IMO he doesn't capture the immense sorrow within the song so it simply comes off as a decent cover)
Sweet Euphoria (longer demo version, another highlight)
Doesn't Remind Me
Blow Up the Outside World
Let Your Eyes Wander
Call Me a Dog
To Love Somebody (Bee Gees)
Sunshower
Worried Moon (this was fucking excellent, again w/ cello)
Rusty Cage (the version he's playing on this tour mimic's the Johnny Cash cover, it's awesome)
Black Hole Sun
Like a Stone
When I'm Down (always a standout)
Ave Maria
Nothing Compares 2 U (Prince)
Wooden Jesus (vocals were outstanding on this one)

Hunger Strike
Josephine (still mediocre live)
Billie Jean
Higher Truth (okay live, but not something I hope he continues to use as a closer)

Couldn't see him the other night because I got stuck going to some stupid haunted house in which I had to wait in line for 3.5 hours in the 30 degree cold

He could've farted into the mic for 3 hours n it would've been an upgrade

Him farting into a mic would actually be an upgrade over the twaddle on "Higher Truth".

I know everyone really likes to kill the "Scream" album, and with good reason, but I thought it was an interesting attempt at making something unique to anything else Cornell had ever been a part of. I really love the Long Gone --> Scream section of that album. That said, the rest of it obviously doesn't work well at all. Mark Lanegan may be the only vocalist from the '90s grunge scene that could make an album in this style that wouldn't feel overwhelmingly strange and out of place. I appreciate Cornell's willingness to attempt something so different, and even though it was ultimately a failed execution of a vision, I prefer an artist pushing to new boundaries instead of growing stale with the same formulaic output.

Lanagan taking a stab at Scream would be hilariously bad. But in fairness to him, anyone trying that would have the same result.

I didn't mean Scream per se, just that Lanegan seems to be most adept at some stylistic changes compared to his contemporaries.

That more of a fair statement. Who was that female vocalist he put out a few records with? Those were a little different. Isobell Campbell?

Yeah from Belle and Sebastian.

Also, Soulsavers seemed a little off the script.
