Books 2 and 3 were by far the best, those were awesome. I also enjoyed 5 but its bittersweet because thats when he went all meta with it

Whatever order you have them in, the correct answer for the top 3 is definitely 3, 4 & 5.
I tried to, especially the ones that dealt with storylines outside of the main one. The thing that eventually turned me off though is that I absolutely despise Jae Lee's art. Too damn many shadows.
Eh, it's a crap shoot. SK wasn't really in charge of them, it was more his assistant Robin Furth. So some of the stories aren't quite what you remember from the books and because of that I am suspect about the stories that are expanded in the comics, like the Fall of Gilead and the Battle of Jericho Hill. If you can find them at your local library go ahead and check them out. I can honestly say the worst that will happen is you'll finish and say, "well, that was OK."
Have any of you read the Concordance books? It's basically a hard-bound Wikipedia article on the DT books and even other books that link into the series.

Ralph Fiennes would be a terrible choice. For me the Crimson King is more gluttonish (for some reason) and I would picture Brendan Gleeson, maybe.

I've read a few of the comics. The ones outside the main story like Bune. I liked them. I don't always care for Jae Lee's art but I thought it was was perfect for the Dark Tower world.

Here's another one from someone who has allegedly read the script. This is the kind of thing I'm seeing over and over over across the internet from various sources.
I read the draft a few times trying to make sense of how they were planning to adapt it, and it didn’t make sense to me. There were things that were drawn from all of the books in the series, and it felt like an almost arbitrary reorganization of material.

The series is just that good champ. Something's gotta be at the bottom. And book 2 is kind of a mess. I loved the Odetta and Eddie sections pieces in the various NYC's. But the rest of the book drags and gets pretty confusing and tedious. It's still a good book but it's a slog at times and nowhere near as fulfilling. It's creative as hell and I love it for that. But it's still too messy.

Mine too. But again, that just shows you how strong the series is. Because it's not like Book 2 is a bad book.
I don't know that I could rank them. I agree that the meta stuff is flawed in execution, but i still enjoy the last three books a good deal. Book 7, especially, in part because it was the first book to really give me an emotional gut punch. I think 3-5 do the best job at tale spinning and world-building.
And then, I've also got a special place for The Wind Through the Keyhole since it's so relaxed (mostly) and makes everything seem like it's okay for a bit. It also does a good job of recapturing some of the dense mistiness of the mythology from before things started getting cleared up (and honestly, a bit clumsy).
I mean Book 1 bored me, to the point where I honestly wasn't going to keep reading. I was also mad at Roland for letting Jake die. And the writing was pretty stupid at times - "Go then, there are other worlds than these" because that's what a kid would say as he drops to his death. I know he wasn't just a normal kid but I still think that part was really stupid.
Then I was like 'eh Ill try book 2' and oh man it was such a different ride. It was like a totally different book altogether. I LOVED the part of Roland seeing the world through Eddie's eyes. It was so bizarre but so good. That whole book was cool, the only thing I didnt like was Odetta/Detta - that was boring, but the other doors I really enjoyed - especially Eddie's. The third book continued that momentum and made it even better.
