What the FUCK is going on here? Is Leland actually Bob? Jesus, I'm lost.

Spoiler: show
Bob is, for lack of better words, a demon spirit. He possessed Leland.

So I finally finished this last night. I'd made a few tries over the years but got through the entire series quickly.

And I have to say...

Holy crap. I'm sure everyone has this thought, but how in the hell did that get on network in 1990?

:hooray:

So glad you watched it!

To this day, I have a hard time going into my bedroom without a light on because of Bob. If I have any demons, if there is a hell, if I lose my mind one day, I firmly believe Bob will be there. Truly terrifying. On a subconscious level. It's like he's always existed. He IS the boogey man.
My wife and I finished the series about a month ago and then watched Fire Walk With Me and Missing Pieces. It's now probably one of my top five favorite shows of all-time.

It took me awhile, but I realized last night as I became creeped out reading The Secret History of Twin Peaks that Fire Walk With Me is the scariest movie I have ever seen.

The original cut of Fire Walk With Me was around 3 hours and 40 minutes, but no studio was going to release a movie that long, so it was heavily edited.

So, fast forward to a few years ago, when they put together a box set of Twin Peaks and Fire Walk With Me, David Lynch took all of the deleted scenes and made a "new" movie called Missing Pieces.

The movie itself is about an hour and a half long and really fleshes out Fire Walk With Me. It better explains what was going on with David Bowie's character (my favorite part of the movie), what happened immediately after the series finale with Cooper and Annie, you get much more about Laura Palmer, and you also see more of the original cast.

So yeah, I highly recommend it if you like the show.

Oh, thanks, I'm definitely interested. I'm just interested in seeing what the process was like between the network and the creators when that first season was being concocted. I mean, we take unconventional narratives for granted now, but that was an added benefit of cable, when producers didn't feel the need to reach for each viewer's common denominator. This is ten years before The Sopranos, a few years before The X-Files (and both those shows were in some ways more conventional than this show)...I guess I'm just shocked it was greenlit at all.

Just finished the series, and what the fuck?

Is there any sense to make of the ending/black lodge?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I can't imagine he'll be a very big part of the show. But who the fuck knows?! It's David Lynch. Anything's possible.
