I saw Slash with Myles Kennedy a few weeks back, the idea that Slash would ever go back to Axl's trainwreck after seeing that band makes my head hurt...you can have the original five on stage right now and they wouldn't hold a candle to Myles and the rest of Slash's backing band

Axl & Slash have supposedly buried the hatchet? Hmm.
They were my last favorite band before Pearl Jam. Appetite broke big when I was in middle school & then Use Your Illusion in early high school. Never saw the original lineup but did see Guns N'Roses* in like '11. I didn't think Axl sounded that bad at the time. There were a couple Chinese Democracy songs that weren't bad but to hear him sing their big hits from 20 years ago..yeah, I had a blast.
My dad hated it when I would play them in my room. "Sounds like a bunch of screamin & dog yellin' "

Axl Rose is notorious for being tardy to his own concerts. On multiple occasions, fans have waited upwards of three hours before the Guns N’ Roses frontman took the stage.

For his part, Axl has admitted that he’s not a “‘punctual’ type of person,” but maintained that every delay was “in one way or another show-related or having to do with those involved with the show in some fashion.”

Not sure how a viewing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze fits into that explanation, but according to Alternative Nation, that was the reason Rose was late to GNR’s concert in Tampa on December 28th, 1991.

A Tampa radio DJ recounted the story to Alternative Nation:

“The DJ was an assistant to the owner of the venue, and needless to say the owner was getting pissed. When the owner asked why Axl was being late for the thousandth time, he said: ‘Axl’s management said he was watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, and that Axl’s attention was 100% on the movie and couldn’t be bothered.'”

Well at least the delay wasn’t because he got sick from drinking a bottle of Mike Patton-flavored orange juice.

I don't blame him, Tokka and Rahzar were really cool-looking.

Yeah but they just looked so cool, you know? Although when I was a kid I thought they were meant to be the movie versions of Bebop and Rocksteady.

Super-Shredder was also cool-looking.

I always assumed they started out trying to do Bebop and Rocksteady but the results were so far off the mark they changed their names.

The Super Shredder action figure was one of the coveted Xmas gifts at my elementary school that year. That thing was fucking awesome.

My friend Kevin who lived on the 6th floor and acted in TV commercials got the Technodrome for Xmas, that asshole.

Thing about Super-Shredder is he was a really cool design but he offed himself in the dumbest way possible. He was only on screen for like 30 seconds. What a waste.

I wonder what Axl thought.

Empathy, brother. My little brother got the Technodrome *and* Krang's android body one year. I was so fucking mad about that.

Super Shredder will be back with his "Chinese Democracy" any day now.

Slash's band has all the technical merits and are fun to watch but they are text book example of safe and all professional and no passion in the studio. A genuine imitation of the real thing, They lack the thing that made GnR great.

I'm a Slash fan and have seen him on nearly every tour he's done. They are fun shows but don't hold a candle to what GnR offered live. Slash solo does not come any where near close to ....

GnR had an amalgamation of styles that was amazing. Each person in the band required the others to be great. I feel Pearl Jam had that as well. So do most great bands.

Well no, Slash's current band is not Guns N Roses from 1988...no band is what they were 27 years ago...but Slash's current band compared to Axl's vocal abortions and the fact that the other original guys in a reunion (aside from Adler) would most likely be going through the motions? It's not even close. And Slash's solo output has been surprisingly good since his "15 different singers" record. Apocalpytic Love was great and World on Fire, had it been cut down to 11 or 12 songs, would've been almost as good.

I wonder if he was as pissed as I was when I found out Bebop and Rocksteady were replaced with those frauds. I can't really blame him if he cancelled his whole show in disgust.

Secret of the Ooze was still pretty good, though. Way better than Turtles in Time.

Never saw Turtles in Time. I was done with TMNT by the time I heard Ninja Rap.

Coincidentally, that was also the same time I was done with Vanilla Ice.

I've always referred to the movie as TMNT 3 and the video game as Turtles in Time.
