He died administering last rights at the site?
Unbelievable. So many stories of heroism from that day, it makes me shudder.

He’s victim 0001. Not the first to die obviously but first to die on the ground.
Short 15 minute piece on his life. He was openly gay and way ahead of the curve in NYC doing funerals for AIDS patients long before it was understood. But his part in the story of that day is just heartbreaking. https://www.newstalk.com/podcasts/on-th ... chal-judge

Fiddy just throwing his sponsors hashtags into his 9/11 tweet.
Stay classy fella.

Oh, it's that time of year again when I spend too much time watching 9/11 videos on YT.
The videos of people wandering around NYC on the day of the attack are inexplicably captivating to me, I hadn't seen this one before:
(Yes, it's a horrifying tragedy, but guy nonchalantly munching on a sandwich at 17:36 is kind of funny.)

Crazy how everyone was in a cautious state of "what is happening?". We didn't have iPhones or Twitter ,etc.
Still haunting 22 years later.

I was working at a government superfund site. The CRT tv/cart in the lunchroom was on a news station. At first someone mentioned they think a Cessna type plane accidentally flew into the tower. Then we watched everything unfold in that lunchroom. We got the word an hour or so later we were being shut down and to go home.
Also, I got married 12 days after 9/11.

I was just thinking about the morning of 9/12/01, it was before school started and I was sitting in the cafeteria with a bunch of guys, and we were talking about the day before and how crazy it was, the things we had heard and the things we believed and didn’t believe, just sort of basking in the unreality of it all. And then this one guy walked in who hadn’t been in school on 9/11, his name was Ryan, and he sat down with us and someone asked, “How you doing, man?” He’s got this faraway stare kind of face and he says, “Pretty rough, man, my dog died yesterday, and also, plus, you know,” and then he just shrugs his shoulders. It was probably the funniest thing that I’ve ever witnessed that I didn’t laugh at at the time.
