Well yeah, but smashed taters also use butter. Actually, I think it’d be oil.

Had some pretty good sweet potato fries at this new restaurant opening up in my community. They had marshmallow dipping sauce for $2 extra, which was OK but I'm gonna pass on it next time. Love the fries by themselves or with a little bit of catchup.

I had kfc fries today and they were legit the best ive had in their class.

For you maybe. We’d call McDonald’s fries, skinny fries.
Different thing here. We got chips. Which are a lot thicker but straight cut. Wedges are a different buzz. Not usually from the same spud used for chips either.
Think it’s Maris piper used in chipper chips. Roosters for wedges.

Maris piper and rooster are varieties of potato.
Fries are called Chips here.
A Chipper/chippie is byword for fish n chip shop.
(Chip buttie is loads of chips on buttery bread squished up)
Crisps is what you guys call chips
How come fish n chips isn’t a thing in the states? Fried Smoked cod in batter and greasy chips tons of salt n vinegar, is food heaven.
Dammit. We just ordered kfc now I want chipper

Dime, fish and chips is a thing in the states. Most bars/pubs serve them, as well as many restaurants in coastal cities
