My understanding is that if you watch all of the promos you've pretty much had it spoiled for you.

Oh yeah. It's one of my top 10 favorite movies. The best pacing and atmosphere...ever? Maybe ever.
Have you ever written about it? Or done a pod about it?
I have not
I mean, I'm not telling you what to do. But I'd totes read your in-depth review/thoughts/breakdown of that film. Just saying.

Probably the dumbest crew of any of the previous movies in the franchise. At one point the audience laughed like it was a comedy at an incredibly stupid decision one of them made.

The alien clearly seemed to be trolling during one of the kills towards the end and that got a few chuckles out of the audience as well.

The entire series is built around people making the dumbest decisions they possibly could

Saw it yesterday...i have a feeling people that hated Prometheus will hate this one too. It looks awesome, its fuckin dark as fuck, and even when it seems a little ny the numbers with a lot of things, i loved it.
Spoiler: show

When Fassbender asked 'who created you?' at the beginning some guy in the theater yelled out 'JESUS CHRIST!!'. It kind of summed up the night really.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's dumb like Prometheus, but the whole thing is amped up to 11. It's just balls-to-the-wall insanity from beginning to end. Gory as hell, thematically absurd, completely over-the-top, visually/atmospherically garish, just generally bonkers. I can't wait for the next one.

That sounds almost like gonzo self-parody, in which case: in.

It was fun but there were a few issues I had with it too. The last third of the movie seemed rushed to me and while it is visually great overall there were a few spots where I thought the cgi looked like shit. I really don't know how the story will end up with all the eggs in the crashed ship at the beginning on Alien in a clean way that makes any sense given the way things have unfolded to this point. Scott is what? 80 Might need some fresh ideas from someone else.

I think the shitty CGI matched the silly, gonzo tone. I was into it. I really can't stress enough how insane and ridiculous this movie is.

But it was intermittent and that made it a little jarring to me, like when the alien went down the ladder on the ship or when those weird dog like alien things were running around the field.
