Yes. It's not a realistic premise but it's a fucking comedy, B. (also yes one can own a town)
B wrote:Are they paying to living in that hotel, or do they just get to live in it b/c they own the town?

This is explicitly addressed in the pilot
B wrote:The whole premise is confusing, and I super hate all of the leads.

No, this show sucks. The jokes aren't funny.

Change my mind.
You should stop watching

Fuck off!

And The Floor is Lava is the slowest lamefest I've ever watched. Even my lame kids were bored after 2 episodes.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Schitt's Creek is a perfectly good, but not great, comedy. It is ridiculous to put it on the same level as The Office, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, etc. It has more in common with the more traditional sitcoms.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

tragabigzanda wrote:Strong disagree. I’d rank them:

The Office
Schitt’s Creek
30 Rock

Parks & Rec
The lack of compelling supporting characters is where Schitt's really fails to be at that same level. The main characters are solid, though I find Alexis to be a little one note.

The Office is probably the GOAT in the half hour comedy sit-com category. I'd put Parks and Recreation as a close second. But Schitt's Creek isn't far behind that. To me, they are extremely similar shows. And I've seen every episode of P&R at least five times. I've only watched SC all the way through once. So, I'll wait and see how it grows/changes the more I watch it.

30 Rock is really funny but too problematic, for me, to rank as high as those other shows.

The Office
Parks and Rec

Schitt's Creek

30 Rock

The original run of Arrested Development is better than all these shows

I think it's way better than The Office, but I've never really liked The Office

Also who was talking about "styles of comedy"? Joe said half-hour sitcoms

I dont really get why people love The Office so much, specially the Carrell version.

It was fine the first couple of episodes or seasons but it was so fucking educorated.

It's my girlfriend's go-to comfort show. She watches an episode almost every day. I don't hate it, it has its moments, I just think it is supremely overrated. And a little bland
