For the actual run, I only took 3 pics (start, Phantom Ranch, at the North Kiabab bridge). They were shitty pics that I only took for time-stamping purposes. However, I did post a couple more GC pics in the mobile photography thread.EJ wrote:That's awesome, good luck with all of that. Did we ever see pics from that first attempt? Left the house at 5:30. Took it pretty easy at the beginning, but found 90 minutes too tempting and picked it up on the return. 36 out. 34 back. Half-mile finishing kick.
Went to the gym after work yesterday to do a body-fat reading and just as I suspected, I'm actually a disgusting piece of shit. I'm gonna start hitting the planks pretty hard.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
People tend to be impressed with a rim-to-rim crossing, but 90% of the run is easy as hell. Down the South Kaibab, across the desert floor, then up the North Kaibab. There's plenty of water the whole way (even in winter, Phantom Ranch and the Pump House have water). Yes, the final 3 or so miles are nasty, but if you are conservative early on (like I WASN'T), you can power hike it in a couple of hours or so. If you can do a half marathon, you can do a rim-to-rim crossing.Harry Lime wrote:I'd ask to be a part of this canyon run but I have a feeling I'd embarrass myself after 4 or 5 miles

I feel bad for the guy. He's cops a lot of gay jokes here, but kudos to him for taking them in his stride.Peeps wrote:has anyone asked dime about rim-to-rim crossings?
I think it's only fair that he make heterosexual jokes at the rest of us.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Doubled up Wednesday & Thursday nights with some added weight last night. Might only get one workout in over the next four days so I wanted to be sure to feel it. That little bit of extra inspiration helped, I've been starting to go through the motions lately and not really challenging myself.

Hi healthy RMers. My back is kinda fucked, so doing anything outside of walking kills me. I typically walk 2 - 4 miles a day 4 or 5 days a week, but what i've tried of other stuff just doesn't jive with my back.
Any suggestions?

13.1 miles in 97 minutes
Took it kinda easy because I plan on putting in about 50 miles this weekend. A weird humid morning with lots of runners and cyclists on the canals. 48 out. 49 back. No finishing kick.

Also, rimming isn't gay.
