Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
Jeff's t-shirt is very similar but not the same.
Mike's definitely wearing a different shirt under the jacket.
Matt was rocking a jean jacket over t-shirt combo on both occasions but I think they're both different shirts and jackets.
Moreover, the performance space seems set up differently for both performances.
(As I edited on the previous page, Ed's dressed differently for the performance videos vs. the interview on Zane too.)

can't believe they've resorted to cloning themselves and sending imposters to media appearances

It's absolutely inspired by Entwistle, you're totally right!RockPusher wrote:Thanks DeeDee! That bassline was one of my early favorite elements of the metal door leak, and the song ended up delivering on the promise of what seems to me to be a very Who-inspired bassline. Does that make sense to you? I haven't really studied Entwistle's style but it just feels that way to me.

I was in love with Who's Next from a very early age, thanks to my dad's record collection. I do have a lot of getting to know the rest of The Who's catalog ahead of me, though.DeeDee wrote:It's absolutely inspired by Entwistle, you're totally right!RockPusher wrote:Thanks DeeDee! Let's discuss this instead. Drums + Vocals only. He also did Dark Matter.

That was something now you mention it
Imagine the vs or vitalogy sessions
Fuck
I remember reading that in the 5 against one cover story in RS leading up to VS. and being a little bit freaked out.
Remember that ? Mental.
Be good to read that book again from an adult perspective
From here and with this much distance it looks like an opportunistic kinda cash grab given they were kings of the world at the time. Be interesting to see how it reads now.
It'd be nice to reread the quote in context again.
I remember reading that RS article 15- 20 years ago or whatever (I was 2 years old when it originally published so I'm late to the party) and don't remember interpreting it as Ed looking for something to fight against. Though maybe it's semantics. I saw it as Ed being uncomfortable with all the luxury he was bombarded with as a newly rich and famous _poster_ rock star. And he needed to reject it to feel himself.
I could have my timeline off though which skews my interpretation. Not sure how truly in the limelight PJ was yet during the recording of VS.
I do wonder if Ed was being sincere or just putting a quote out there for street cred.
I now personally think it's both.
There’s not a fake cell in Ed’s entire existence. There’s just not.
There is truth in both aspects there tho.
He was very much king of the world and uncomfortable with it at the time.
And there was an element of artifice going all the way back in the fake and the real (the story about the girls and Black and the cliff. Fucking hell. What were they thinking )
But he’s more real than that too? He’s not that guy
He just had more determination that most. Certainly more than any of his peers.
If he had of stayed in San Diego or wherever, nobody would know or cared.
Mightve made it in a metal cover band in la.
I’ve completely lost your point I’m sorry. But he’s a good guy and he will never let you down. Just don’t look him in the eyes.
Calibrate your enthusiasm

Es and Jeff seem to use different clothes during the Ringer podcast. Or maybe they changed and these three interview happened the very same day. Mike is not featured in this one so maybe he got mad and went home.
Seriously, the ringer podcast will be released soon it seems with video too..wow! Three interviews! So much for these guys! We really had it difficult in the 90s right?

Ed isn't the Danzig of Pearl Jam, he's clearly the Ronnie James Dio.The Town wrote: I had a college sociology professor who couldn't fucking stand how fake she perceived Ed to be.

I don't know, brothaman, I read that RS article when I was 14 years old, 30 years ago. I can't be bothered retroactively psycho-analyzing the dude outside of making a joke that popped into my head for a millisecond...BUT...you're probably not far off there.
Now then....I feel much more at ease taking about the clothing choices of a bunch of 60-year olds who still shop at Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, & Kohl's.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…
