I just managed to track down "Lightning Bolt" and "Getaway." The former's pretty decent; I like what they've done as far as studio treatment with the keys and percussion details. "Getaway" didn't really make an impression, but then again, it was first listen, so not really likely to. I'm not sure if I want to keep searching for the other leaked tracks, or wait until official release, since I'm not quite sold yet.

would you say that it is a logical extension of Backspacer?
I think it is, yes.

Oh and Ed sounds a lot better than Backspacer here.

It's funny that BO'B said he thought of them as one record, because honestly, there are very few Backspacer tracks I would put with this.

Ed should be able to tackle these songs live pretty decent except for that high last verse in Lightning Bolt (as we already know he couldn't hit at Wrigley).

Right out of the gates, in Getaway, the way Jeff's bassline goes so good with the vocal melody, with that jangly tone. Fuck yeah

Ed did fine with the high verse of LB at Wrigley. He fucked up the ending though.

I'm talking about the part starting near the 3:00 mark of the studio version.

To me it almost sounds like Backspacer was a practice for this album.

Very much so. Backspacer seems like blueprints for something better. I mean, that's fine, because I wouldn't expect this band to get 'pop music' right the first time.

If the other tracks are darker and more experimental (other than SBM and FD), I think we're in for a good ride.

I thought that final high verse was fine, and not much different to this one. He lost it when he started with the "yeah yeah" stuff in the outro, which is slightly less annoying here.

I really hope the distorted vocals stay in LTRP. They probably won't.

I like but not love...which with Pearl Jam is a very good thing.
All the best albums/songs are good but not great at first then after multiple listens become amazing like you had to "work" in order to enjoy or understand them if that makes sense
