I just finished watching the whole Simmons video.

When have we had this much access with this many new anecdotes? The avocado story was great, the story about Matt's then-8-year-old son behind the kit directing the band during Riot Act was great, the story about Jonny Ramone giving Ed his Yankees and Cubs memorabilia... I learned more about this band in the past week than I have in 30 years. On the back of their best album since Yield. We are fucking EATING GOOD people. And the tour hasn't even started.

If you go out and play three shows, it’s great. If you play sixty, somewhere along the line you’re going to become an actor, or you’re going to have to put yourself on autopilot just to survive it. That pisses me off because it’s my fault, because of the songs; in order to sing them, they have to be felt. And I don’t feel right singing them and not getting in the space of the song. If I was Whitney Houston or somebody, and I could just sing these melodies and hit these notes and sing songs that someone else wrote, I wouldn’t have these problems"
this is why I fell in love with pearl jam.
the emotion coming from Ed always felt sincere and not an act. its nice to know it was/is.
that was a great unexpected read. i started then couldn't stop and it just kept going!
thanks Dime

Interview?

Why?

Because I think we want to encourage that type of behavior. crowdsourcing may be the bedrock of next gen fandom by taking the parasocial elements of youtube/tiktok creators that young people gravitate to and extending them to mainstream music.

I tried the wombat remix... DM was so bad I had to turn it off

This was on my JBLs, so maybe I'll try again later on a different setup

I listened to the whole thing today. DM was by far the worst mix, not sure what they were going for there. The rest were decent, I would say the best/most notable were Wreckage, Won’t Tell, Upper Hand, Waiting for Stevie. Some of the others either had weird emphasis on various instrument volume choices and Eddie is noticeably more upfront in the mix. My favorite was probably Upper Hand from what I heard today.

Agreed about Dark Matter the song as remixed by Wombat. It was just kind of distant and small.

All credit due to the person who remixed the album in AI..I'm sure they know more about audio production than I ever will, but, there are audible artifacts all over this thing. If I'm being completely objective, it sounds like it was just run through the meatgrinder of an automated plug-in.

Anyone old enough to remember the original Guitar Hero game?

If not, before they made enough to pay proper licensing fees and gain the rights to the official recordings, the developer, Harmonix, had an in-house band that would cover all of the songs.

There's an artifice here which makes it sound as though a cover band is playing through DM, especially as regards the vocal.

Again, if the person who did this is a poster here,I don't mean to drop a steamer on your work. I'm sure you're awesome.

After all, I am but a single opinion.

Ed is usually pretty awkward in interviews. He can be longwinded and he'll have these long pauses where the interviewer thinks he's done answering even though he's not. Then the interviewer will start to ask the next question and Ed will keep going with his answer. Happens every time, lol.

Yeah I gave it a try and thought it sounded like shit. It's because of the AI processing

i know it's a sport podcast and everything, but someone should re-upload the interview re-edited with all the crap about american sport that no one outside of the usa cares about edited out.

Took a little break from this album but it's still pretty damn great. Won't Tell is my favorite but Scared of Fear, Wreckage, Upper Hand, Stevie, Got to Give and Setting Sun all still hit hard. Easily my favorite since at least Riot Act. That said, I'm not sure I've had this reaction to one of their albums in a very long time. Still kinda shocked they had this in them at age 60.

This is still pretty darn solid after x-amount of listens.

React/Respond Wreckage and Running are really improving atm.

Got To Give still hasn’t hit yet.
