My team lost 5 in a row and plays in the AL East, so yeah, fuck baseball.

But they won last night, so baseball is great again!

Seems like Cincy might have a monster in Elly de la Cruz. In his second game, he hits a 458’ HR that’s the second hardest hit HR by a 21-and-under player ever recorded, and later in the game he hits a triple and was clocked as the fastest home-to-third run in the majors this year. Yikes.

Let’s make bets on who he is playing for 3 years from now

Cardinals fans, what’s with David Freese not wanting to be in the Cardinals Hall of Fame? Is there some behind the scenes drama that the major news stories are not reporting on?

Very interesting. The obvious thought would be that he's still pissed his hometown team traded him to the Angels ten years ago, but his statement on why he's turning down the induction does not indicate that at all. In fact, the opposite. He lauds the Cards and puts the reasoning behind his decision on himself:
"I look at who I was during my tenure, and that weighs heavily on me. The Cardinals and the entire city have always had my back in every way. I'm forever grateful to be part of such an amazing organization and fan base then, now and in the future."
Instead, he seems to be alluding to his own struggles at that time with depression and alcoholism which apparently included three drunk-driving incidents.
"I was depressed," Freese said. I was always depressed. I never tried to do anything to myself, but I didn't care about my life. I didn't care what would happen to me. It was almost to a point that if this is my time, so be it? And there was definitely a lack of care about my well-being at certain times, for sure."

Freese had three drunken-driving incidents during his Cardinals tenure, however, and crashed into a tree on Thanksgiving Day 2012.
