If Gigaton can lean into the 80s post-punk vibe and lean out of the pop-punkiness of the last couple albums, I think this whole thing could really work as the band's version of an album by The Kinks, The Knack, Buzzcocks, early Devo...
I like your thinking

I only know of videogame embargoes as I don’t pay attention much to the other stuff, but letting people post opinions a few weeks before release signals...confidence from the band.

Must mean the marketing machine will kick in soon.

That explains why we haven't heard anything.

While Vedder may be front and center at all times, Pearl Jam isn’t just Vedder’s vehicle for personal expression. The strongest entries in Pearl Jam’s catalog are albums where the group is heard as the sum of all its parts and “Gigaton” fits that description. The album sees every member of the band except for guitarist Mike McCready writing lyrics. Coincidentally, McCready is also the lone member of the band who has not released a solo album.

Bassist Jeff Ament released his third solo record and an album with his side project RNDM during the six years since “Lightning Bolt” and drummer Matt Cameron released a solo album, his first, during that time. The Cameron-penned “Take The Long Way,” which strengthens the back half of “Gigaton,” is a spirited, hard-charging song. Cameron wrote the lyrics and music for the song and it is the first Pearl Jam song to feature a credited backing vocalist, with Lemolo’s Megan Crandall providing support.

Lots to get amped about in those two articles. At the bertybleast we have got an album on our hands that had been constructed rather than pre-fabricated

O’Brien is present on the tracks “Quick Escape” and “Retrograde” where he provides keyboard support.

That's a bit odd. Clearly on RM, DotC is rated mostly as 4 or 5, while SBWM is rated mostly 3 or 4. I feel that is representative of the strenght of the two tracks.

it sounds like BoB's keyboard may have been a consolation prize when they decided to split

ugh, hopefully he's reined in a bit and more tasteful

I'm really looking forward to some non-Vedder lyrics again.

The two songs he played on are mentioned as the best, alongside SBWM.

I am encouraged that if there's a "Supersonic" on the record, it seems like we already have it in SBWM

also, I think I like all the lyrics quoted
