I guess? I'm not sure we can make that call yet though. These first two songs sound fairly different from the previous record to me. We'll just have to wait and see.

This is such a strange criticism to me.
Do you like the song? If so, then who cares if it's a new sound or not, it's good. If not, then do you dislike it because it's not a new sound or because you don't like the song?
The only song New York immediately reminds me of is a song that wasn't even on the last album. But, beyond that, I think it's a great song. So who cares if it's a new direction or not.
How many songs on each subsequent album by any artist are reinventions/new directions? Was every single track on the S/T album a departure from Strange Mercy? From Actor?

Joe, its not a criticism. Its just an idea, a thought. Im allowed to have those in this thread i guess.
I like the songs, i was just expecting something different. I not saying THIS SUCKS!. I also think they new album will be good...but im talking about her music, saying that i was thinking she might take a different approach maybe.
And yes i think ST is a big departure from SM and Actor not only in her music, but in her visuals. Somehow i dont see it in the visuals from the new record.
Again, they are not bad.
Joe, i like her. Joey.

Yikes. You seem super defensive. We're just having a conversation, champ. You don't need to get bent out of shape.

Great shot from the House of Peroni NYC opening. I sure do with I'd been able to attend that event.

I gotta confess, I'm just not feeling anything about the rollout for this new album. The songs are okay but just aren't sticking with me, and all the art and fashion and gimmickry is starting to feel overwhelmingly like clutter; it's just not something I understand or am drawn to at all. I'm going to unfollow her on Facebook and hope that tuning out some of her marketing makes for a purer experience with the album when it comes out -- I gotta imagine there will be at least a few showstopping tracks on it worth fighting for.
