I'd love to see something else on TV. I just think he needs time to make something. Don't rush it. I'd love a third season of TD once he has something. But I don't want one just to have one or to fill a quota or something.

I just picked up three books at my favorite used book store: Blood Meridian, The Crying of Lot 49, and The Trial. What should I read first? I've never read anything by Pynchon or Kafka.

I would recommend not reading Blood Meridian.
I'm in the camp that thinks it's an astonishing book, but I know not everyone feels that way. I'd say if you're not feeling it after ten pages, you could probably put it down.
Go the Harold Bloom route. That's what I'm doing.
Pick it up. Read 50 pages and throw it down in frustration and disgust.
Pick it up again some years later, read 100 pages, and again throw the book down in utter despair and anger.
Pick it up a third time, again, some years later. This time finish the book and call it the greatest American novel ever.
