Really good..James Wan sure knows how to make a horror movie....loved Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

This Is 40 - pretty terrible, really glad I didn't see this at the theater. I wasn't expecting much. But, assumed I'd have some decent laughs. No real direction, not funny, and way too long.

Mud - better than average, maybe a bit on the longish side. Some quirky laughs to it. Pretty enjoyable movie overall.

Ted - had really low expectations. It surpassed those - there was some cuteness to the story. Stupid movie, but some good laughs in there. I can tolerate some raunch once in awhile.

Yeah, that was really good. I wanted to spent time in that room with them telling me stories of how they got that stuff.

Yeah, that was really good. I wanted to spent time in that room with them telling me stories of how they got that stuff.

I see they're already eyeing up a sequel - not sure how I feel about that, but it could work. Must admit - I am quite looking forward to the sequel to Insidious. James Wan does seem to know how to create a spooky atmosphere without relying on cheap parlour tricks.

yeah, i want to see that Insidious sequel. Should be really cool.

As for a sequel to this one; could be nice, specially because the main characters are really good.

If you guys want another good ghost story featuring the Warrens, watch the T.v. movie "The Haunted" from 1991. It's on youtube in parts. Anyway, scared the hell out of me when I was a little guy. Still is creepy.

Where the Red Fern Grows. One of my favorites books and movies when I was 9. Horrific music, terrible acting, hokey dialog and a boom mic left in the frame for at least 15 minutes... I wish I would have left this one to memory.

I can't tell whether I find Amanda Seyfried attractive or not. I mean don't get me wrong, I'd definitely say yes to her if she asked me, but I'm just saying.

So Winter's Bone is probably in my top 10 movies of the last 10 years.

She is really attractive. Not that difficult to me.

Its good...John Hawkes was amazing. He was also good in Martha, Marlene , whatever..

I really didn't like it. If you haven't yet, check out Ramin Bahrani's Chop Shop, Man Push Cart, and Goodbye Solo. Also, Ballast and the films of Kelly Reichardt (esp. Old Joy and Wendy and Lucy.
I feel like Winter's Bone ripped off the aesthetic of these types of films, which is fine, but did so in a way that feels forced and fake. The actors in Winters Bone always seemed to be purposefully waiting three or four beats before responding to each other, which is a weird way to force a slow, contemplative style. The films I listed end up being much more compelling.

argo, you need to see Meek's Cutoff. it's reichardt's best film

I saw it. I liked it alright, but it didn't affect me the same way those other films did. It had a nice style, but it didn't really engage me.

Well, you have a point...WB borrows from those movies and tries to make a more conventional, mainstream movie...and its successful with that.
Im not sure about the acting though, i think Jennifer Lawrence and specially John Hawkes were amazing.

I'll check them out. Especially Wendy and Lucy. I keep hearing great things.

I think the reason why the actors take so long to respond to each other is because the script is only 73pgs. I'm guessing the director wanted to reach 90 or so minutes. I don't know. The script is pretty bare. But I know what you're saying.

The biggest offender when it comes to long pauses between dialogue? Kubrick & Eyes Wide Shut. It made for awkward viewing.

"The Conjuring." Cool.
"Foosball", Argentine animated film. It was OK.
"Sleepwalk With Me". Cloying and dull.
"Primer". Really good. Surprised it wasn't in my radar.
"Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé". Decent.
"Middle of Nowhere". Very nice.
"Despicable Me 2". Lots of fun.
"Comme une image". An old favorite. Doesn't quite hold up, but brings back a lot of memories.
"La Comunidad". Perhaps my favorite Alex de la Iglesia film. What a crazy ride.
"Hannah Arendt". Interesting how unique it was in terms of perspective and voice. Enjoyed it.
"The Wolverine". A bore.
"Aku no kyôten". Not one of Takashi Miike's best, but enjoyable enough. Surprisingly straightforward.
