I'm intrigued by this "sneaking in" story. I don't recall it from the first time around.

McP with the foresight before it was released
But weirdly wrong
McParadigm wrote:It's gonna be a comfortable mimicry of a story you already know, directed by someone who is superb with actors and good with action but adequate at best as a storyteller. It will feature some heartstrings-pulling character changes, practical effects, Star Wars noises, and JW music.
There is next to no chance that this will be anything less than a good, fun film. But the idea that the above combination might produce something as good as the original trilogy is laughable (although I'm sure there will be the usual overexcited "Guys Lightning Bolt Force Awakens is the best one in the whole set yeah I said it" hyperbole in the first few months after release).
You're about to get a solid, fun, rewatchable film called Star Wars. Why that wouldn't be enough for someone...why they would have to talk themselves into The Division Bell being not a good Pink Floyd record, but the best Pink Floyd record...I will never know.

I will never see this film as long as I live, but while I'm here I may as well say that spoiler-tagging posts of a film that has already been released is COMPLETE AND UTTER MADNESS.
If you don't want to know, just don't click on the thread. Just don't. It's that easy! Just don't.

- Spoiler: show
- it does follow template to a large degree, but its better..anyone who saw me say ANH has the bones of a good film, but it could be done so much better? this is that..but much much better than id hoped...its totally its own beast..As Stip was saying, the impact/feel it factor in the battles is incredible..it looks stunning overall..this showing was in 3D and that really worked on shots of the star destroyers/big stuff but didnt come into it apart fom that...gonna fess up to crying both happy and sad about 9 or 10 times during it...the reveals are done SO well...there's one shot of Han in the Falcon i nearly jumped up and cheered
the acting is great across the board..i have one huge problem but ill hold off making my mind up about that until i see it again thursday..the part they filmed here in Ireland is SOOO obviously Ireland, but thatll just be me notices that..In the end? its got that Star Wars feel all the way through:) the shots and direction even down as far as extras & stormtroopers..you could be right back in the originals and that all adds to it.. im not gonna rank it yet but man, its fuckin up there:) bring tissues..im not being a big girl..youre gonna cry too

I do like this movie, but it has a few weak spots. The sudden jump in story to Starkiller Base, might be the biggest one. The scientific implausibiliy probably doesn’t, as it’s that kind of movie anyway. But I always found it jarring, from the second I saw it in the cinema.

Some great action, interesting characters, a true love of Star Wars in the production. There are some problems that drag it down from being a truly great (Star Wars) film, but I still rate it highly, and watch it more regularly that any other 2015-film.

I really like Force Awakens and think it is the strongest of the sequal movies. My only complaint was Rey and Finn being able to compete with a trained in lightsaber combat Kylo at the end.
That made no sense.

They could have solved that a lot better.
Don’t think it’s the biggest flaw in the movie.

While the film itself had some amazing scenes, I think the sequel trilogy peaked with that initial trailer. 10 out of 10.
