I kind of hope they don't; didn't the last three records get "return to form" from everyone who wasn't a Deepfan (TM)?

Maybe this is true and we'll get Gigaton on streaming platforms on friday? 27.3. might only be for the physical release... :search:

Going on tour a few days later would also make more sense then... :search:

Wasnt one of the early ones a B+?

Either way at this point in their careers i'm just happy they are reaching a little, and that it seems like this new one is going to break the trend that with every new album, the band has a new "worst" album.

I'm not sure why AV Club have its release as early as that, but it's even weirder that they haven't edited it if it's wrong

The unlikely synthesis of styles might be best embodied by “Retrograde,” the penultimate track on the record, with music credited to guitarist Mike McCready. Starting with a flourish of a guitar strum, it begins gently enough, with some very Zeppelin-esque guitar work contained in the acoustic sounds undergirding Vedder’s soulful warble. It fits neatly into the Pearl Jam canon of easygoing back-half-of-the-record offerings. Then with two minutes remaining, it opens up into an expansive combination of layered vocal harmonies, finger-picking melodicism, and frenetic drum workouts, like a combination of The Who and Pink Floyd, a complex fusion of electronic and organic sounds.

“Take The Long Way,” penned by drummer Matt Cameron, blends the band’s occasional forays into ’70s punk with almost cock-rock riffing, like a Night Ranger song stumbled into the room and got swallowed up by the band

Need some of that sweet Retrograde nectar
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

If this is in reviewers hands, we could be seeing the leak soon. I'll listen ASAP.

As for these reviews, they got me most excited for Seven O Clock, Retrograde, Quick Escape (I hate that he mentions Trump directly though), Buckle Up, and maybe Who Ever Said (hope it's a better rocker than SBWM)

It’s now close enough where I think I may hold off on a leak, especially since I’m going to the Dolby Atmos thing.
