Me: "So no water all day?"
Super: "Read the notice! It'll be back at noon."
Me: "Oh! There's a typo in the notice, I guess. Should say 12 PM"
Super: "There's no typo. 12 PM would be midnight. 12 AM is noon."
Me: "That's incorrect, but thanks for the info."
Super: (very annoyed) "How is it incorrect?!"
Me: "You have it backwards. 12 PM means noon, 12 AM is midnight."
Super: "How can it be midnight if it's in the morning?"
Me: (struggling to find the words to explain) "Well because... I mean, it's... uhh"
Super: "Ah, you see? OK, I have things to do now." (leaves)
To avoid these sort of misunderstandings I will always go with 12:01pm. Added advantage is it makes me look ridiculously efficient.
How does that change anything in this scenario

The road closure signs around here have very wisely starting displaying start time of 11:59pm to avoid confusion.

Road closed Friday 11:59pm until Monday 4:45am or some such.

Friday Midnight obviously confused people.

I'm sitting on a park bench eating my lunch and a young guy came and put a plastic takeaway container full of seeds down in the lawn a bit in front of me and then came and sat on the other side of the bench. He keeps insisting that the pigeons are curious but I really don't think they care

beautiful day and a very high tide due to celestial happenings

i caught one fluke, was only 14 inches so threw it back. was nice to get a bite though

In this scenario, it wouldn't be Friday midnight. It'd be Saturday midnight. Friday 11:59pm --> Saturday midnight

If the sign said no water 10am to 1201pm it would have been correct, no?
