Possibly. My daughters do martial arts, and my eldest is quite big for her age - kids at school have called her fat etc, which ends in tears at the end of the day questions about why she can't look more like her sister etc..... I thought we were past all of that - then last weekend at gym apparently one of the other kids called her fat and told her she was no good at gymnastics - that ended with tears too

Maybe if I'd been around. I was up north with my parents. Texted my wife to ask if the kids enjoyed gym - and got a text back detailing that prick kid crushing my girl

I had a little poseable skeleton on my desk at work for Halloween, brought it home over weekend. Came downstairs today to hear my daughter telling her little brother “oh gosh look at this, I guess the elf on the shelf died.”

Lately when I look at pics of my kid as a bub, I get a very mild desire for another. I see why some parents are willing to do it multiple times.

Strictly from a care and raising perspective, of course. The pregnancy/delivery/recovery is a whole other enchilada I can’t speak to as a guy.

And tonight, my five year old reminded me why I’m not procreating again. Absolute basketcase. Took her up to bed at 6:15, out by 6:30.

I've worked really hard lately to appreciate and savor each stage that my boys go through. We are done having kids, but I think it's ok to be a little sad when kids get past a certain age.

They make it so hard to appreciate.

My oldest fell while snowboarding a couple years ago and fractured a growth plate on his wrist. A few months ago he re-injured it while sparring in a boxing gym. He had surgery a few weeks ago to repair it. He’s been champing at the bit. On Monday he was kicking a heavy bag and fell on his elbow. Same arm. Bad break. Surgery went well today, but he went from nothing to metal in his wrist and elbow of his dominant hand in less than a month. I must admit, I cried a little. He’s only 18.

My eldest daughter turned 10 on Thursday, so to celebrate I took her away for a few days for a daddy daughter weekend away. In the morning our flights got cancelled - and we were rebooked on a different flight later in the day going to a different city, and then flying to our destination a few hours later. We spent our few hours layover going to visit an animal park and melting in the heat. Got to my parent's house later that day just in time for dinner, and in the evening we watched part of Titanic. The next day my daughter and I took my parents car and travelled to Rotorua to go and do the luge

At the skyswing there was another lass in front of us who was also doing it for her 10th birthday - we watched her pass out on the ride, then come to and burst in tears. Fortunately my girl screamed and when it was done asked if we could do it again.

After that we checked into a motel - wander the town briefly and then headed to the Polynesian spa to soak in the hot pools for bit.

The next day we went to a place called Velocity Valley where I let my daughter choose what we'd be doing, and she settled on Freefall Extreme....


Then it was off to the local Maori village for the rest of the day before heading back to my parent's place.

Next day before our flight home my daughter and I climed Mount Manganui. There was much protesting, bitching and moaning and almost tears, but my girl did and reached the top. She didn't show it, but i think she was pleased she'd done it

Dad of the year!

I forgot to mention - if you ask her, we did two things, and one of those was going to the Hotel and watching TV in bed.
