Red Mosquito

Okay, finally sitting down to listen to this. They are probably the band/artist of the last ten years I like the most (I might put Amanda Palmer above them, but she is wildly inconsistent) so I'm looking forward to this.

The title track didn't make a great first impression. She's covered a similar sentiment in a far less precious way in the past, far more effectively.

New moon was interesting. Not sure what I make of it yet.

Golden Age feels very traditional (for them) in a comforting ways.

shit, I forgot to set up the next round of songs in the tournament. Back to this shortly

shouting at the dark is the first of these songs I'm excited to go back to.

Cocoon was nice, too. She's an excellent lyricist and this is unfortunately a listen while working experience, so I'll need to give this a lyrics listen at some point soon

Overall the album ended much stronger than it began, but most of these songs didn't wow me on the first listen.

Now rank the songs.

I need another listen or two. Already enjoying it much more on the second run through.

What do you think of Witch Wolf?

It's solid. I don't have a handle on any of these songs enough yet to really talk about them. I'm starting to ease into the feel she wanted this album to have, and I need to listen to them from within that space.

You're gonna like it more and more with each listen, Stip. This thing has tremendous legs.

I'm surprised the debut album is your least favorite, Stip.
