I don't know if it's just Tom but it's a spoken word track. Always a treat when it's Waits.

Loved it. Sounds amazing too.
The bridge is eerie as hell. The song does a great job of actually mixing both styles.

So it sounds like this isn’t actually that new?
"One day many years ago, I accepted an invitation from Massive Attack to collaborate. Their long release delay never worried me. Today, as in all of mankind's yesterdays, guarantees this type of song will never go out of style. Man's folly of fiascos is a feast for the flies. Hence, the B-side of Massive Attack’s upcoming 12 inch "The Fly" features my appreciation for the winged nuisance." – Tom Waits

His voice does seem a bit younger...like early-mid 2000's. Sounds like a vocal take from something off Bawlers/Brawlers etc

Also i dont care when this song was written or recorded. TW and Massive Attack should do an album. With their haunting sexy style of music and his brutality.....its a very perfect mix

Per the internet not sure how accurate quit yet but this is devestating
Cold and hot as Satan's hoof
Spinning on the world, I'm hiding on a roof
I kill a brown man I never ass knew
Choked on spit and then he turned blue
He spattered black blood, he rolled Fin out
He died right there, I got the pearl from his snout
A puff of gray smoke, the tongue of a cloud
He rotted in the sand and all that they found was his boots on the ground
Boots on the ground, boots on the ground
All that they found was his boots on the ground, boots on the ground

It's probably silly but I pre-ordered the vinyl single.
Still haven't even heard the song!

There is nothing silly about that.

This song is incredible.
Is that an actual Earth Died Screaming sample? Or is it just a similar sound/arrangement of similar instruments?

Im not sure, it seems Tom recorded a long time ago and the band took their time.

I feel like using EDS as a percussion / basis track is genius given the themes of the song.

Really been sitting with the lyrics. Whole hearing tom sing "big titties" is initially shocking and ridiculous.....after repeated lessons it just adds to the fucked intensity of the song.
Clearly sung from the perspective of some Jarhead. I was literally talking to
My brother in law this past weekend and he was ruminating about challenging it sometimes is to fit in as an adult male to some more serious issues when it comes to his daughter and mental health yada yada. But he had talked a lot about how he wa basically raised in the marines and all he knows is taking to marine bros. He didn't tours in Iraq 2003-2005.
So hearing ton waits sing certain lines just makes it feel more - real? Not sure. Just rambling.
And was talking to someone else who pointed out "the history of oysters is the history of stealing from the natives". This is not a thing I'm familiar with but he's a bit smarter than me.
In any case - this song is brilliant.
I would die for a full album collab with these two. Damn

That video with that song was an intense experience. I feel... angry? Lost? Hopeless? Hopeful?
