Sorry if this has already been discussed in the past but have decent audio rips of the 'Live from the Artist's Den' broadcast and the Superunknown set from SXSW been circulated? I downloaded one version of the Artist's Den show at some point and it sounds terrible, surely something better must be out there.

I've also wondered whether that mysterious 'Live from Hyde Park' DVD that was billed as being included with some deluxe editions of King Animal actually existed? I've never seen it anywhere.

Artists Den

Superunknown at SXSW

Hyde Park does exist but I haven't seen it on any torrent sites and there are only a few clips on YouTube. I'm guessing it was pressed in a small quantity and Soundgarden fans aren't exactly generous with that stuff.

Thanks Matt

This definitely sounds better than the previous rip of the Artist's Den show I had but it still seemingly sounds fuzzier and more distorted than the rips on YouTube for whatever reason, perhaps I'm nuts.

It's from a DVD. I do remember having to amplify it so perhaps that's why. Do you want me to re-rip the DVD and see if that's better? I suspect there are several rips out there of varying qualities. This was something I acquired in a trade (yes, some people still do this!) so maybe that's why.

Oh, no need to rerip it on my account - I was just curious.

As you've said, it's probable that there's different rips floating around that sound different depending on people's set up, etc.

A few bits about a new record in this interview in the SMH:

http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/mus ... 3gr3f.html
Soundgarden plan to make a new album for a 2016 release in the next few months.

"No studio has been chosen and no songs are written yet," says Thayil. "When we finish these shows in Australia we'll spend a month or more working on it. It's definitely going to happen.

"We worked with producer Adam Kasper on our last album and I wouldn't be surprised if we hook up with him again," says Thayil of the Seattle producer who also made Down on the Upside with the band in 1996.

Last month, front man Chris Cornell announced to his 1.83 million Twitter followers that he was back in the studio making a follow-up album to his 2011 Songbook release. During his break from Soundgarden, Cornell started the band Audioslave and showed his fans a prolific songwriting side. He hasreleased four records under his own name, with a fifth on the way.

"Chris is very prolific but not all his material is Soundgarden-worthy," says Thayil. "His songs don't always strike us as something we like for the band."

The highlights from a report from a bloke who ran into members of the band in Adelaide:

Among Ben's favourite SG tracks are Kristi, Cold Bitch and Kyle Petty.

The band is considering playing Kristi while in Australia: "Ben's really keen to play it, Matt said it needs a bit of work."
