Been going to PT for my neck and back and they seem to be improving (but mostly from doing exercises on YouTube). Been testing it out for a couple of weeks at the old battlestation, and it seems to be holding steady. Also the therapist is super cute and gives good massages, and my insurance covers it so that's a nice bonus. Was a very long year

Jorge wrote:My building's superintendent and I got in a weird debate today about the notices they posted about how the water was gonna be shut off "from 10 AM to 12 AM" for repairs.

Me: "So no water all day?"
Super: "Read the notice! It'll be back at noon."
Me: "Oh! There's a typo in the notice, I guess. Should say 12 PM"
Super: "There's no typo. 12 PM would be midnight. 12 AM is noon."
Me: "That's incorrect, but thanks for the info."
Super: (very annoyed) "How is it incorrect?!"
Me: "You have it backwards. 12 PM means noon, 12 AM is midnight."
Super: "How can it be midnight if it's in the morning?"
Me: (struggling to find the words to explain) "Well because... I mean, it's... uhh"
Super: "Ah, you see? OK, I have things to do now." (leaves)
This happened to my wife tonight. A counterparty in Greece messaged they can meet at “12pm” which would be 7pm here. Turns out he meant midnight, so the call’s at 7am tomorrow morning.

That's why we have words like noon and midnight.

I also don’t know/trust how time zones mesh with one another.

For example sometimes we are in the same time zone as Arizona, sometimes not. I forgot which time of year is which. (Daylight vs Standard)

So when I’m stating or setting a time for something, I just say “Pacific” and them figure the rest out on their own.

military time fixes this

truly logical convention

but civilians not ready to take the leap to meet-ups at 18:00

I prefer 16:00. I like to get an early start, so I’m in bed by 21:30.

Why would you openly admit this?

God you're an idiot.

The Arizona thing is annoying af. My old company was based in Phoenix, so that’s where the servers were that generated all our reporting. Half the year an hour’s difference from the Midwest, half the year two hours.

I guess here in Australia, Queensland pulls the same shit. Then there’s Adelaide, which is a HALF HOUR difference from AEST. Would make

The problem lies with the Fuckwit states that actually play with time and bring in arbitrary daylight saving adjustments. The stoic states that accept that time is what it is and don't try to bend it to their whims are the ones keeping it real.

I would for sure weep.

We just need to keep the one where it’s light out later in the evening. Year ‘round.

My friend is hosting a party next month commemorating the 37th anniversary of the "Cachi Incident":
In October 1988, a poodle named Cachi fell from a 13th-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, killing a 75 year old woman upon impact. A woman who had gathered at the scene was then struck and killed by a bus. Finally an elderly man who witnessed the unfolding events suffered a heart attack and died.
