This happened to my wife tonight. A counterparty in Greece messaged they can meet at “12pm” which would be 7pm here. Turns out he meant midnight, so the call’s at 7am tomorrow morning.Jorge wrote:My building's superintendent and I got in a weird debate today about the notices they posted about how the water was gonna be shut off "from 10 AM to 12 AM" for repairs.
Me: "So no water all day?"
Super: "Read the notice! It'll be back at noon."
Me: "Oh! There's a typo in the notice, I guess. Should say 12 PM"
Super: "There's no typo. 12 PM would be midnight. 12 AM is noon."
Me: "That's incorrect, but thanks for the info."
Super: (very annoyed) "How is it incorrect?!"
Me: "You have it backwards. 12 PM means noon, 12 AM is midnight."
Super: "How can it be midnight if it's in the morning?"
Me: (struggling to find the words to explain) "Well because... I mean, it's... uhh"
Super: "Ah, you see? OK, I have things to do now." (leaves)

Why would you openly admit this?Bammer wrote:I also don’t know/trust how time zones mesh with one another.
The problem lies with the Fuckwit states that actually play with time and bring in arbitrary daylight saving adjustments. The stoic states that accept that time is what it is and don't try to bend it to their whims are the ones keeping it real.spike wrote:The Arizona thing is annoying af. I guess here in Australia, Queensland pulls the same shit. Then there’s Adelaide, which is a HALF HOUR difference from AEST. Would make

In October 1988, a poodle named Cachi fell from a 13th-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, killing a 75 year old woman upon impact. A woman who had gathered at the scene was then struck and killed by a bus. Finally an elderly man who witnessed the unfolding events suffered a heart attack and died.
Spoken like a truer WAer.Higgs wrote:The problem lies with the Fuckwit states that actually play with time and bring in arbitrary daylight saving adjustments.
