The songs just lack any emotional attachment, depth, meaning, they just seem to be what 5 happy guys bring in from separate lives apart, laissez-faire approach. I really like KDs post.

Earlier today when I was walking back from the farmers market, I found myself humming and singing "escape is never the safest path (place)", with the focus on the SA-fest part. Things like that that mean so much and are 20 years old. I'll never find something like that in Let the Records play or its compadres, it just doesn't touch that emotional nerve, connect, impact...just flies on by like a 2013 Dodge Dart, not the original Dart.

we should all probably hold off judgment until we find out which post jorge prefers.

Clearly this is not what I want from Pearl Jam and I can't say that I will be listening to it very much, but it definitely feels like a better album than Backspacer. They seem to have put a lot more thought into it.

I wonder if this album is going to retroactively sour some people on Backspacer, though.

Hey hey I'm okay with pop rock.

I just think the songwriting has suffered during the last 11 years, for a variety of reasons, and the band's "were older now and feeling groovy" safety thing doesn't blend with a leap to pop rock particularly well.

stip, can we get an opinion index stickied please? so we can see what each member thinks of the tracks so the cool kids don't have to listen to them, they can just look at what their favourite posters think and form an opinion around that? cheers mate.

Yes, maybe. By and large I thought Backspacer's wasn't. So far I think Lightning Bolt's is.
