Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
NYT
The Donald J. Trump Foundation has agreed to close following a court decision that allowed a lawsuit against the foundation to move forward, the New York attorney general’s office announced Tuesday.
The attorney general, Barbara Underwood, accused the foundation of “a shocking pattern of illegality” that was “willful and repeated” and included unlawfully coordinating with Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
“This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests,” Ms. Underwood said.
She has sought to bar Mr. Trump and his three eldest children from serving on the boards of other New York charities in the future. The foundation’s remaining assets are to be redistributed.

The foundation falls, bump stocks are banned, and Flynn is in court. Just another morning in 2018.

Judge is quadruple-checking that Flynn did not feel "entrapped" by FBI:

This judge has seen the non-redacted sentencing memo, right? So he knows what else Flynn was involved in / what he's talked about with the special counsel?

Sounds like the Judge feels Flynn's actions might rise to the level of treason which may influence his sentencing decision.

"I'm going to be frank with you -- this crime is very serious," Sullivan told Flynn. He noted that the crimes had been committed by a high-level security official, "in the West Wing" of the White House. The judge also said he would take Flynn's 33 years of military service into consideration, but expressed dismay that "all along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the United States."
Wow. He’s fucked.

It sounds like the judge, who knows what he did (not just the redacted sheets but the whole thing) is raking him over the coals and he's going to take Mueller's recommendation and throw it away. That's what I'm getting here.

It's worth noting (because most outlets aren't even talking about it) that Mueller changed his recommendation after Flynn & his lawyers tried to throw the FBI under the bus. It might just be semantics, but Mueller dropped the "no jail time" specific from his response. Again, it's minor, but it's interesting and maybe meaningful.

Abramson didn't mention this specifically, but he notes that the judge was well aware of the possibility of a pardon for Flynn, and that Flynn had been dialing back his cooperation recently. Abramson called this a brilliant move by the judge, because it compels Flynn to keep cooperating, and makes it harder for Trump to issue a pardon (politically speaking).durdencommatyler wrote:It's worth noting (because most outlets aren't even talking about it) that Mueller changed his recommendation after Flynn & his lawyers tried to throw the FBI under the bus.
