I don't think it's that confusing to compare them. Gigaton could have the political vibe, instrumentation similarties and production of Riot Act, while also having some of the Rob Thomas-Christina Aguilera pop elements that riddled LB.

RA/Lightning Bolt is not hard to phathom.

Yield is kind of that in many ways. I mean, what does it all mean? Pearl Jam generally always sounds like pearl jam.

His ranking is funny given he mentioned SBWM as one of the standout tracks in his review. Or was that another reviewer?

This ranking changes daily:

Clairvoyants
Quick Escape
Alright
Take The Long Way
Comes Then Goes
Who Ever Said
River Cross
Buckle Up
Superblood Wolfmoon
Seven O'Clock
Retrograde
Never Destination

Edit: OK so that was CoS which mentioned SBWM as one of the essential tracks, not Travis.

Seven O'Clock and Retrograde have gotten praise from most reviewers so I'm not banking on this ranking being reflective of what most people would think, tbh.

The cool thing is different people finding different songs to their liking.

River cross

It's MUCH better as a full band song. The simplicity is stripped away a little, but the song still sounds great and gets some added depth. There isn't a whole lot of additional instrumentation added so the overall emotion is still there too.

This excites me.

they need Timbaland to take a pass at the songs.

Ms Harmless wrote:how does "mostly Ed with an acoustic guitar" go on for 6 minutes?
"Off He Goes" clocks in at 6:02 so it might be that kind of song.
I'm seriously excited.

ooh, does it? that's interesting!

I'm actually all in for an album with a couple of rockers and the rest mid-tempo, quiet

Travis writes in his review that River Cross is the only true ballad on the album. He also says the last few songs are pretty quiet and shouldn't have been placed together.

My personal feeling is this album is going to be a really good one. Some of the songs won't hit immediately but will be growers. I think RM will like this album more than anything since Riot Act/Binaural.

Avocado with good production is a success at this stage.

totally agree, I'd be OK with that
