Really funny in retrospect how Israel gave so much of its soul in exchange for Donald Trump’s support.

I'm sure it will work out well for Russia and Iran. That is certainly the history of the region. (edit) I should probably clarify that what I'm saying is I understand the sentiment to want to leave....I know its not realistic or a very good idea....we would be worse off in the long term. The no win situation that is the Middle East is exhausting. Having the referee people because they believe in a slightly different version of bullshit is exhausting. Its all exhausting.

I feel sorry for the Kurds, that are once again getting shafted, and will probably be ethnically cleansed. Thanks for the help from uncle Sam.

You just summed up my frustration and disappointment with the conservative mindset in 2018. Simple answers that on the surface make a lot of sense (ie. less taxes = MORE money in my pocket!), but when you look deeper fail to answer the problems we are facing (ie. rising health care costs = a lot LESS money in my pocket).

It's that simple thinking that has led to the problems we are cleaning up now. (Let's topple Iraq's leader, fire his army and let them keep their guns!)

It is interesting that the left thought it was a great idea to get out when Barry wanted to do it and the right were opposed and that has flipped. Why could that be I wonder?

We all realise this withdrawal is just a huge distraction tactic by trump to make it look like he’s winning and take headlines away from the indictments and Mueller right?

Right?

Lindsay Graham was highly critical of this. Mattis and the national security team were also critical.

Well yeah the hawks are consistent. I'm sure Rubio hates it and John McCain is rolling is his grave. They want to bomb everyone. Trumps base are the people whose kids have to go over there.

If we can’t send soldiers where it is needed, who can we send? Yes, soldiers have loved ones and parents, and they are doing an amazing and dangerous job. Very proud of the NATO troops.

You’d have a far easier time listing all the people who have come out in support of this approach than you would trying to list all of the people alarmed by it.

Polling on the growing calls for Obama to increasing military intervention in Syria, 2016:
Support (for an increase) falls across party and ideological lines: Two-thirds of moderates and conservatives approve; so do 54 percent of liberals.
do you think the US should be more or less involved in Syria?

People who said “more” or “about the same”: 61%
Less: 30%
On where partisan shifts were happening, 2017:
37 percent of Democrats back Trump’s missile strikes. In 2013, 38 percent of Democrats supported Obama’s plan. That is well within the margin of error.
In 2013, when Barack Obama was president, a Washington Post–ABC News poll found that only 22 percent of Republicans supported the U.S. launching missile strikes against Syria in response to Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons against civilians.

A new Post-ABC poll finds that 86 percent of Republicans support Donald Trump’s decision to launch strikes on Syria for the same reason. Only 11 percent are opposed.
