and they don't tend to release the best song as a first single, that's not been the case for most of their career
That means the album they scrapped with Can’t Deny Me must have been straight fire, as the kids say
Imagine Can’t Deny Me, Olé, and Of The Earth on the same album. No thank you
Mash those songs together, RM Challenge.

With the usual caveat that all of this is subjective, I thought Gigaton had some good to amazing songs I didn't know they still had in them -- namely, DOTC, Quick Escape and 7:00. And I can enjoy SBWM. The rest of the album is largely forgettable to me and I don't find myself drawn to/wanting to listen to any of the other songs. There will undoubtedly be skips on Dark Matter too, but I think/hope there will not be as many based on my naive and irrational optimism, as I fill in the blanks on the metal door leaks with soaring, anthemic epics and Gossardian-return-to-form riffs that well may not exist. But . . . maybe they do? Very cool I even have the chance to wait to find out in the year 2024.

For what it's worth, these are the two songs I was referring to.
The rest ranges from okay to completely forgettable.

There are three songs i really grew to love on Gigaton. But there are some clunkers on there as well (SBWM, for one)

Lose the EdVed tracks. Those 7 tracks are okay to really strong.

I feel like there is a much better 1-4 run post vitalogy stip.

Somebody send me an mp3 of the instrumental version. I'm going to try my best to sing it based on my memory of the three times I've played this track

Haha I love to hear people’s opinions. I don’t think this new track is better than any Gigaton song. But I’m still sitting with it. Maybe better than never destination or wolfmoon. It just doesn’t sound like a fleshed out song to my ears, kinda boring. I really miss the layers and atmosphere of the Gigaton songs and the fact the songs could “breathe”. I’m hoping for some more interesting songs on the album.
All in all, Gigaton fucking rules.
Gigaton does.

While I actually really like Ed's songs, Gigaton definitely suffers from too much Ed

Well that explains it. I’d say agree then.
Can’t keep - Crop is solid, prob just below the gig run. In fact….i quite like Alright also. Could go 1-5.
But….Yield. I could even claim Brain to DTE is the longest GREAT stretch in their catalogue. And yeah, I love Pilate.

Binaural has the best 5th-13th tracks.

For a few years now I've toyed with the notion that Gigaton 1-6 is my favorite six-song run in the catalog.
