The 2013 version of Very Ape is maybe my favorite version of anything from the In Utero sessions

Still reminds me so much of our own argentinian band Los Brujos´ s Kanishka i cant listen to it without thinking about it.

rumor is that when the band played in Buenos Aires they listened to this one ( Dave at least) and then copied it.

But remixing "In Utero" all over again from stem to stern

To show it in a different light and to deliberately stray from the original content, mix balance and intentions

Is clearly an elusive concept to grasp.

Regardless of what Albini and even Novoselic (not the sharpest tool in the shed) have stated

About it not being a replacement or an attempted improvement on the original mix.

Calling it "2013 Mix" instead of "Alternate Mix" or "Different Version" was a brilliant idea.

So in my city there's a series of Candlelight Tribute events happening. Typically it's a string quartet, 3 violins and 1 cello. They do various bands and even some movie scores. I went to the Hans Zimmer show they did a couple of weeks ago. Pretty great.

Last night was the Nirvana show and was quite something to hear.

Shows usually last about an hour, which seems just right. And at least here, most of the shows are held in churches and the promoter comes in and puts out a few hundred candles in the room, so it sets quite the mood.
