So I watched a fan shot video on YouTube of the whole RnRHOF induction ceremony including speeches and performances. Such a great feeling to see your favourite band honoured like that. I really enjoyed the speeches; some good humour there and of course, a lot of emotion. The performances were also pretty damn good. Can't wait for a pro-shot video of this to come out.

Also, I listened to the cover "Again Today" a couple of days ago. I thought it was a good song but I really liked Ed's singing on it. I am personally not a fan of the punk-ish songs they do but that's mainly because Ed's singing is like a race against time in most of them. I liked this one because he was singing more 'normally'. The high notes were good too. I can't wait for the next studio album though it seems like that isn't one of their priorities at this time. Whatever. Lots to feel good about these days as a PJ fan.

Is that dude sitting by the drums during Alive there to make sure Krusen leaves after the song is over?

Love that Krusen performance. Looking forward to seeing a proshot of that. What a great moment.

After seeing the Krusen performance I do get why he was included. There is something elemental in rock n roll, where 5 nobodies can get together in a basement and conquer the world if they stick together. Yeah, others played on demos and stuff, but the sparks that flew in that basement all those years ago, the whole mythology of that first week and first show, Krusen was there. So, he deserves to be there. The other drummer did too.

Another tidbit to completely kick this horse dead: Did anyone read "Everybody Loves this Town" by Mark Yarm? It's another "grunge" oral history that covers all kinds of bands. Dave A, Mike, Jeff, and Matt are all interviewed for the book. I don't remember if Stone and Ed are in it. Dave A actually talked of bumping into Ed a few years after he was fired after a Chris Cornell show. Dave A was sitting on a curb with Alain Johannes and Ed decides to come and greet them. He says "Dave Abbruzeese" and they do an awkward one armed hug. Dave is reminded of how short Ed actually is. Ed joins in the conversation between the 3 of them for a few minutes, rambles a little bit, and then wanders off awkwardly cause I guess the conversation was going nowhere. Dave A comments that he half wanted to clobber him but felt like he already did cause he was still around and still kicking. It very much felt like I was reading about a divorced couple. I've had very similar interactions like that with ex-girlfriends, it felt just like that. Rough situation for him, it must have been. I guess you can chalk it up to how he got in the band. They were desperate to get someone for the Ten touring cycle, as long as they were willing to relocate and move to Seattle. He was the guy willing to do it at short notice. He never fit in.

On the Hall of Fame - plenty of other older guys have gotten the award and carried on okay - Neil, Bruce etc and Metallica, Green Day, RHCP are just moving along (whether or not we lke wha they're dong these days). I was at the Wrigley shows and the second one especially felt like a celebration of 25 years and this HoF obviously is that. I think they can close this chapter and hopefully move onto a different stage. No, they haven't accomplished "everything", the challenge now is how to keep it going and how to keep honoring the tradition of guitar rock and try to expose a dying art form so others can see an authentic version of it and keep it going in some small fashion themselves. I think Rush a good example to follow of a big band going into their 30th year and then their 40th year in good shape. I hope they are learning from them, of all bands.

I think that's why I was most disappointed in Neil not being there, I was hoping it might spark Neil to ditch Promised of the Real for a tour and go out with PJ for a US tour that's been LONG OVER DUE!

Neil recorded Mirrorball at the tail end of a series of much better albums, in a creative resurgence that owed a lot to his never-ending urge to both write and risk.

If you get more Pearl Jam at all, it won't be that.

Im still very happy we have this performance with Dave Krusen.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I can't really see Neil and Matt Cameron jiving too well. The king of loose swagger meets the human metronome.

Since Matt is gonna be busy with Soundgarden for the next year or so, now is the perfect time. Get Mike, Stone and Jeff out there touring with Neil. Maybe they could bring their ole buddy Dave Krusen along.

I agree about Again Today. It starts like it will be Ole or something but Eds singing is much more controlled. There are some nice guitar parts layered in there as well. I really like this song.

I am holding out for the HBO broadcast but I am really looking forward to it now.

The band looked so humbled by this.

I had completely forgotten that this was happening till I saw an article on my local news feed. Still haven't gotten around to watching any of the vids. Hopefully if it's a slow work day I can get around to it

I get what youre saying, but man, theres times I feel Crazy Horses drummer is one less fill away from hitting Meg White drum beats.

Still, it is shocking a Neil Jam US tour has never happened. And now that PJ doesn't seem to want opening bands anymore... :/
