When going over to a friend's house for Thanksgiving, an event in which the hosts are your only friends really, every other guest is a stranger or someone who don't always connect with, and even your spouse won't be there... how much whiskey is one allowed to drink before heading over?

coffee. I’ll have to wait until late afternoon, early evening to get a drink. Lunch/dinner with teetotalers, and I have to drive there, so no pre-gaming.
