We’re gonna need a few details.BurtReynolds wrote:I also landed a fun new job today, so RM is winning all around.
Super glad to hear this went well. Be safe. There is no timetable that you need to meet.Peeps wrote:Had my surgery yesterday.
It is insane how efficient and well oiled the process was.
Get called back at 915am. Stripped and weighed. Shave my thigh.Vitals taken and 945a anesthesiologist stops back for signatures and what they will do. Give me a general that will relax me. Then a nerve block in the spine. While that is happening give me the real stuff through the IV. About 1030a rolled back to the OR. They ask me to sit up on the edge of the bed and lean on one of the nurses. I feel a slight pinch in my back and then I start sleepy sleep. Vaguely recall them moving me twice from bed to board to bed.
2pm I hear my name and come to. They tell me how well it went and now it’s a waiting game for the nerve block to wear off. I can move my feet and do so but can’t feel being touched which is normal. Probably between 230-245p I crave feeling again. They serve me lunch (penne with meat sauce< 2 chocolate chip cookies and a Diet Pepsi. Genuinely surprised at how good the pasta is.
They were a little backed up on PT and one lady (ankle or knee) walked down with a walker with the therapist and said she was setting the bar high for me so I better be ready. When it was my turn I walked down towards the steps they have set up. Did those twice and walked and the lady from before was in her bed and I looked at her and said I did the steps 6 times and was on lap 3. She let out a damn and told the PT she wanted another shot. The PT said great two competitive people today.
This is the new part for me. I was ready to be released and I had one check box left to do. Pee. Up until this point (3pm) all I have had to drink was a shot glass of water and a Diet Pepsi in about 20 hours. So went to the bathroom and the aide went in with me to make sure I didn’t fall. Total performance anxiety. So went back to my bed and had 2 small bottles of water and a ginger ale.
Gave it about 10 minutes and went to the bathroom and this time I turned on the faucet and wa-lah. The nurse looked at it and declared it enough that I was free to go. Got dressed and rolled out of that place.
One home laid on my recliner and got up 4 times to walk around my place using the walker. Physical therapy is tomorrow at 1.
For numbers…yes the nurses were all attractive. . Yes it was weird for a beautiful woman to hold up me pee jug and declare it’s enough.

Then I got to thinking, 'you know, Nick, you oughta drop by the ole forum and see if any of your schoolyard chums are still around'. And then I spent like 2 hours finding an old saved password on a hard drive backup. And well, here I am.
