Pretty jarring dude
Really ? I get the middle of the song feeling that way but the jam at the end into Release seems to merge well
Like Leash to Indifference is not a little jaring

To be fair, their setlists are always jarring in several places so you could anything PJ together with anything else PJ and some people would like it.

I doubt it. I'm expecting a sternly worded series of posts even were the band to play the songs live in his living room haha
Not if Jack Irons was on drums!

(No, I haven't heard them.)

Do you have your name on an rss alert? Really?

Good move.

We need you right now Spenno. Seriously.

Paddy patronising alert

Nnnnnnnot true. I've been at pj gigs where it hasn't worked and been alarming for the juxtaposition. And I like that more than when it's vanilla and just does what's expected.

OK, but 'jarring' could also mean unexpected, quirky, anything else. PJ's weird setlists can work amazingly, or badly, but they're pretty weird. That's what happens if you're a band with such diverse material. Not many bands would play (for example) 'Animal', 'The Fixer' and 'Of the Girl' together. PJ would.

It is. I like them all, I just place LTRP at the bottom.

Thanks! I am surprised myself that what we wrote still makes sense, even though the leaked songs sound totally different after that first time  .
Most reviews were written right after the listening sessions, only I did not have time yet, so I wrote it Monday night after the Wednesday night session in Amsterdam. So I feared some fantasy might have sneaked in. But apart from a couple misheard lyrics, which is okay after only one listen, it still holds.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

p.s.: my notes were really badly written. I should write more, you know, with a pen on paper :).

So your feelings are pretty similar after hearing the leak?

That post was on the most recent page when I opened the thread today, so, here I am.

Like I said earlier, I'm not holding out for the official release but I am waiting until better quality versions are circulating. I'd prefer to hear the album as a whole too.

oh yeah that reminds me we should go back and judge all the reviewers on a scale of idiot to dumbass. I think we have enough information to go on now.
Go ahead, I dare you   :haha:
But seriously, I know most of these people for real, and you can never judge us for YDKSAU :P

Feelings have changed, but I try and separate feelings from impressions. I am still 40 pages behind here, so it may take another while before I will add more about the leaked songs. At this moment, Swallowed Whole is my favourite of these four. But that keeps changing ;).

Ok

It wouldn't be like me at all to start a shit storm, bit nobody else has said it.

Drummer debate.

Cameron is completely under the radar here. And I love it. He's finally found a groove that works with Pj.

Discuss

In that he's really the only thing we can hear 100% and know what's going on with.

Lots of outrageous claims being made about songs only listened to for two days.

Matt doesn't do nearly enough on MYM to put fire in my loins.

But on everything else, he's good. His drum tone and the feel of his playing (especially the "groove" he has found on Getaway) reminds me quite a lot of Riot Act. There's more "Can't Keep" in his playing than S/T or Backspacer, for sure. I don't think he's finally found a groove that works with PJ, he's got back a bit of what worked during Binaural and Riot Act.
