lol yeah, I remembered that after I made my post. I'm more worried that they are just building to a big season finale that is designed just to have us come back for season 2. Like, not really any story. The remnants of the Empire will kidnap BY in the last scene of the last episode, and that will be it.

I still haven't watched this latest ep. But these comments here and a few non-spoilery ones I've seen elsewhere seem to support the idea that Favreau wrote this as a 2 hour movie and Disney made it the flag ship series for streaming.

Yknow what? That makes sense.
There was a whooooole lot of nothing in this episode. Literally filler
In such short episodes where it’s been so great so far at making and getting to the point. This one doesn’t at all.
I’m worried.

Yea. Geezes. Some poor casting choices as well. Oof. Some terrible acting.

I'm not sure why "fan service" is a problem. Everyone bitches that the Netflix/MCU stuff isn't ENOUGH in the Universe, but now this is TOO MUCH in the Universe?
Five years after the fall of the Empire, people aren't going to talk about the Empire?
In the giant space port right next to where Luke grew up, they're not going to know about Beggar's Canyon, or see Sand People?
As long as this is about people outside of our I-IX saga living their non I-IX lives, I'm fine with mentions and callouts.

I forgot a new episode came out today so everyone's comments were confusing me for a bit.

it's like pornography: you know it when you see it.

I love the fan service. Dont love the acting and the feeling that this story means really nothing. Feels like a saturday morning cartoon.

Squat Freddie Prinze was awful though.
Agree with the criticisms of the overall plot and pacing, this is all going nowhere fast. But on an episode-by-episode comparison, I’ll keep watching action-filled episodes with fun fan service and inspired cameos over the Xena/TNG shit we got in eps 3+4.
Who was playing the rookie bounty hunter? he looked super familiar. Like a backstreet boy.

You MUST me 4+5.
I think this lays out a Robin Hoody plan they've got for this character that we're probably going to get more of. Rogue man on the run, helping the less fortunate who may or may not be able to pay him.

Again, not speaking to this episode specifically because I haven't seen it yet, but to the idea of "fan service" in general: I think the term has an unfair negative connotation. I think fan service can be a good thing. My issue with fan service as it relates to what I've seen in The Mandalorian so far rests on the viewers and not the creators. I hate seeing "fans" shit on the ST for its fan service and recycling of ideas while heaping praise on this show for the same thing. It makes the cynic in me really question the root cause. And it's difficult for me and my leanings (remember Qui-Gon said: "your focus determines your reality") not to point to the obvious.

Here's what I know: the story has something to do with Episode 9 so I know it's going somewhere. the 7th episode is going to do something to setup the movie, and the 8th is going to do something to make the movie make more sense.
ok so the last one is a hope more than a know but whatever.

I'd set the over/under about about 5% on this and I'd take the under.
