I want to know more about LV. What is in his background that made him this way? I don't recall his insanity being covered in his voice interview.

The plat account has been a little ...off...since it's return.

It would be a more impactful quote if LV hadn't already outed himself as the board's resident nu-metal fan.

In all seriousness, I have a hard time thinking 100% of Kanye's behavior is performance art. Particularly his obsessive retracking and remixing, the constant title changes, the elaborate album "debut" that essentially ended up meaning nothing -- this strikes me as a creative busybody who gets so excited every time he thinks he has a finished product to share that he inevitably ends up sharing some things that don't seem like such great ideas to him the next day. This doesn't seem like shtick to me -- it seems like exactly the blend of insecurity and unbridled enthusiasm that is consistent with Kanye's personality. It's a bit frustrating while you're waiting for the music to drop, sure, but it's a refreshing change of pace from the old model of the album being "in the can" for 8-10 months before the label even starts promoting it. Social media allows a direct relationship between the artist and the audience that Kanye has taken advantage of like few artists have. His debt and personal issues don't interest me (though I hope for his sake that LV is right about what he's doing), but how many major artists say directly to their fans, "Hey, I'm doing some last minute tinkering with my album to try and make it the best it can be, I'll have it finished later today," and actually deliver on it (give or take 24 hours)? I dunno -- that's cool to me.

He never released the album. Most people I know stole it.

It's also worth considering that Kanye married into a family that have turned being public and hated into a highly lucrative trade. The dude's picked up the better part of a million Twitter followers in less than a week. What he's doing is working.

I didn't say he released it, I said he finished it. But still, just because people don't like his avenues of distribution (and Lord knows I don't either) doesn't mean the album isn't "released."

I guess I just have a hard time giving the guy credit for sharing with his fans when at the same time he is throwing Tidal hissy fits.

I don't mean to suggest he's trying to cultivate some touchy-feely relationship with his fanbase, just that his relatively honest, pretty obviously artist-maintained account is a breath of fresh air compared to things like, say, this:
