Due to a horrendously synchronized confluence of events in my personal life and this country, my stress levels are at probably an all-time high right now. Feeling completely miserable, like I'm gonna die. 2025 was maybe the worst year of my life and already worried 2026 is gonna be worse.

2025 was wild yeah. I kinda feel i need to step down from news and podcasts and get more into music and art to actually focus more on my work. Thats how i feel 2026 might be better for me.

For me, I was feeling fairly positive just 3 weeks ago, in spite of everything I think I am generally an optimistic guy. But then my mom got sick and it's crazy how suddenly everything became terrible and depressing and hopeless. It amplified the bad in everything else for me

Did it turn out to be bad news for your mom then or what's the prognosis?

Yeah she has a type of blood cancer. She's getting treatment for it now and we're all trying to stay positive. I'm really struggling with it though

I relate to this.

My mom about to begin her battle with cancer has magnified the existential crisis thoughts I’ve had about moving across the world from my blood family.

Might give the 70s soul & funk a try. It’s been hard trying to relax. Alcohol just makes me somber.

It was difficult when my mom got cancer when I was on the opposite side of the country. Triggered full-on panic attacks.

Yes, I’m anticipating similar potentially. I’m already planning to fly over for a couple weeks during what we determine may be the worst of it, mainly to help in any way I can, but also for my own sanity.

I was two hours away (depending on traffic!) from my dad during his battle, so I have a little taste of what it’s like to be at a distance, but obviously this is another level. Also, it’s my mom, man.

The Timothy Busfield news wasn’t enough to get you down?

Sounds harrowing and my siblings are feeling a similar way right now. I'm lucky that she lives 3 blocks from my home (she's actually staying with me now while she undergoes her treatment and for the foreseeable future)
