You either like a song (or album) or you don't. Sure, this can change "a bit". Certain songs may grow more favorable. But, trying to say that your opinion completely changed is a fanboi cop out.

You're saying you've never initially disliked or were indifferent towards an album but later grew to enjoy it, or it hit you at a different point in your life/maturity? Never?
I never liked more than a couple of songs on Binaural for YEARS. I thought it was boring, muddy and just lacking. Just recently, after giving it a few more good listens with a good pair of headphones and FLAC files, it just hit me. I think it's amazing now on so many levels that would take a few paragraphs to explain. You can't tell me for a second that this has anything to do with other people's opinions influencing me or me wanting to be cool or a 'fanboy'. That's utter bullshit.

Sent the song (video) to my wife. Her comments:
bodysnatcher's wife wrote:the only thing I didn't like is there's some random piano/keyboard notes in there that I wish wasn't. not all of the piano, just these certain 3 or so notes that sound really random, they're not even similar in sound to the other keyboard/piano notes... they hit at 2:18-2:20 of the video, and the video is showing fingers playing at that moment. is that Boom's fault? Thanks yet again Boom.

This would make all kinds of great songs exclusionary for just tons and tons of reasons.digster wrote:I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the reasoning behind "you've got to be in that type of relationship for it not to be cheesy." I think it's kind of a knock on the song if it needs to be that exclusionary to thrive.

I guess all songs *are* exclusionary for someone.

Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
I sent my girlfriend (who is younger and not a Pearl Jam fan) the song along with a pretty long "give it a chance, maybe a few chances" email. Today she was just like, "I liked it right away. It's pretty beautiful."Mike wrote:Oh, and a little anecdote. Me and my best friend are long time Pearl Jam fans and we both were equally confused about the song (He still is I think.) and we celebrated the birthday of another friend two days ago. We were sitting around drinking beer when the video was uploaded and decided to watch it. One of our non-fan friends couldn't understand why we thought the song was so irritating. He really liked it and thought it was a welcome change for the band. The girlfriend of my friend thinks it's one of Pearl Jams best songs and really likes it even though she normally dislikes most of their output.

Yeah at this point I'm fine with Boom. I can't fathom having a producer play piano all over your records when you have a piano player already.durdencommatyler wrote:How does anyone hate Boom? I guess, to be fair, he was doing it before Boom anyway. He just didn't used to do it badly.
