I appreciated the heart in Funny People, but it was a chore to get through and I generally like long, boring movies. My least favorite Apatow-directed movie.

Watched Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World earlier tonight. Much better than expected. Really funny and a lot of heart. Far from a perfect movie, and there's a lot to pick at. But I enjoyed myself. A surprising romantic dramedy that had a lot more going for it than I expected.

Contagion. One of those movies that has been around for a while but I never watched.
I liked it okay. It's something that makes you wonder just what would happen if a virus like that were to spread today. It's happened in the not too distant past, particularly the flu outbreak around 1918.
And I'll give credit to the editor, the nearly two hours flew by. One of the faster paced movies I had seen in a while. For a disaster films that helps.

I only saw it once, a long time ago, but I felt like it greatly underestimated the level of panic and violence that would result from such an event, and that took me away from the story. Our food supply change only handles about 3 days worth of consumption so there would be a lot of well-armed hungry people roaming about, looking for food for their family.

Saw "Pitch Perfect" again. Wife loves this movie. And honestly, it's one of the funnier movies I have seen in a while.

recent viewings:

Arbitrage - pretty enjoyable Richard Gere thriller with a good amount of far-fetched outcomes thrown in.

The Way Back - scenic drama about men who escaped a Siberian gulag in 1942. The scenery dominates the movie, but the character interactions are pretty good. Its a bit on the long side, but not overly tedious. Ed Harris, Colin Farrell.

Eight Men Out - Its inexcusable that I had never previously watched this one from start to finish. Its a classic baseball movie about the Chicago "Blacksox" World Series betting scandal from 1919. Great movie, great cast.

Closer - a bunch of good looking people cheat on each other, yet have somewhat intertwined relationships. Odd, and not very good. The best part was seeing Natalie Portman dressed as a stripper. Good scene there.

bottle rocket. I didn't know I could hate the Wilson bros more than I did. I was wrong.
