Maybe I am understanding it wrong, but i thought it did adjust for position. Like Miggy is actually a decent 1B, and a terrible 3B, but because the average offensive statistics for a 1B are better, it doesn't help is overall WAR.
I don't think it has anything to do with offensive stats though. The positional adjustment is there because the easy defensive positions are easy to find someone to fill in. It's essentially a defensive adjustment. A poor defensive shortstop is still more valuable defensively than an elite defensive first baseman. That's what the positional adjustment is accounting for.

I would rather the local announcer be a personality than your standard well prepared announcer. Over the course of the season, I don't need the finer points explained to me, I'd rather be entertained.
