Patriots Not Allowing Football Game Against Texans To Become Distraction

FOXBOROUGH, MA—Insisting that it is the furthest thing from their minds at this point in their season, members of the New England Patriots told reporters Thursday that they are not allowing their upcoming game against the Houston Texans to become a distraction. “Obviously, it’s something we’d rather not be dealing with right now, but we’re not going to let trivial stuff like this Saturday’s matchup with the Texans take away our focus from our goals as a team,” said Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who downplayed the upcoming divisional playoff game by adding that players and coaches have avoided discussing the subject at all in the locker room. “We know it’s something that the media wants to make a big deal of, but it’s getting blown out of proportion, and honestly, none of us are paying any attention to it. It’s not something we’re going to waste time worrying about.” Sources confirmed that a visibly frustrated Brady later stormed out of the press conference after refusing to answer yet another question about facing Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler.

Too much hubris in that one, Coach. I don't care for it.

Self, please know that I wake up every morning with a feeling that the Pats will blow this game. Too many bad memories from crappy years during the 80s and 90s.

The Falcons should win tomorrow. Seattle is going to have to play near perfect and get a few breaks to get a win. This is exactly the type of game as an Atlanta sports fan I have come to apprehensive about.

I can't decide whether to join the pity party here and be worried about my team's next game, or just say fuck it we're gonna win by 30.

Suck it Falcons, you're going down.

It's actually going to be the other way around. Seahawks are about to get fucking crushed. I'm not even worried.

I disagree. Seahawks by a beak.

Great defense; poised with a ton of post season experience. Against a great, explosive offense with a shaky recent post-season history.

The Chiefs, another good defense (though not on the same level, perhaps, as the Seahawks), found a way to beat Atlanta in Atlanta. I'm not sure who I think will win the game. But I think I'll be surprised if either team is able to curb stomp the other. I want Atlanta to win. But I just don't know.

But I have a similar feeling about every game this weekend except the one in Foxboro. The Patriots will beat the Texans by at least 14 points, probably 24.

Seahawks barely beat Atlanta with ET in the line-up and needed help from the refs to do it. It's gonna be a tough for them.

That's true. And that was in Seattle. But that was also back when Wilson was a walking mummy. He's healthier now. And Rawls looks like he's catching fire. They have poise and experience in the playoffs.

Comparing Ryan's post season stats to Wilson's ads a compelling angle to the story, too. Will we see 2016 Regular Season Matt Ryan? Or are we going to get the guy that under-performs and shits the bed? How he plays is going to be a HUGE.

In week 6, Russel Wilson was also well under 100%. I don't think that game means much for this weekend.

Sure, and they still have Wagner and a bunch of other good defensive players. Still, losing ET probably halved their chances of making it to, let alone winning the Super Bowl.

I certainly don't think they will win the Super Bowl (if they make it). In fact, I fully expect them to lose in the next round whether they play GB or Dallas. I don't like their chances against either team. And again, I'm not saying they WILL beat Atlanta. But I think they have a decent chance and I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
